Sailaway – last minute cancellation from Sat 4th June

Sailaway at Constantine Bay has just had a cancellation for Saturday 4th June for a week. Its a wonderful house – only just completed 2 weeks ago, and finished with real flair and imagination.

It has great sea views from its large balcony and just an easy walk down to the beach or up to the golf course and shops.

It sleeps 8 – and is lovely.

Well, the week price is £1250…but sure we can have our arms twisted quite a lot to make this a bargain week. And if you are a smaller party, even more chance to book a seriously special week.

Email us on enquiries@raintreehouseholiday.co.uk or call the office on Tuesday.

Relax – our beaches are looking good!

Today the Good Beach Guide 2011 was launched.

Have a look here for news on all our local beaches - all getting the highest ‘MCS Recommended’ award.

We all know that after heavy rain, drainage systems in the UK are under increasing pressure, and that this can cause isolated bad quality days. Not good, and not acceptable.

But its good to know that, on a normal day, our beaches are as good as they can get!

Morvoren adds sun power to become real eco home

Last week Morvoren at Treyarnon Bay had a large 4 kWp solar PV (photovoltaic) system added to its south-facing roof.

The system will provide about 4,200 units of electricity per year – much of which guests can use in house to run dishwashers and washing machines. Any excess will be exported to the grid – for use by others.

Cornwall is the best place in the UK for PV installations – and with good Government grants (Feed-In Tariffs) available and guaranteed for new installs over 25 years, payback on the £7-17,000 needed for such a system is around 7 or 8 years.

The system was installed by It Won’t Cost The Earth, who are a sister company of Raintree House Holidays.

It Won’t Cost The Earth install all over the UK, and are different to other suppliers in asking their customers to use their online survey to help specify their own system.

It Won’t Cost The Earth’s team of experts, using tools such as Google Earth, and talking through with the customer at every step, then provide a very competitive quote along with designs and comprehensive financial projections for the next 25 years. Only high quality components are installed, using the best quality technology and local teams overseen by on-site IWCTE project managers.

What do you need? A roof of around 10 to 45 sq metres; a lack of shade for all or most of the day; and an orientation from East round to West – with of course due South being just perfect! Morvoren’s roof is fully south-facing and huge – lots of power!

Expect to see plenty more PV around North Cornwall and the UK!

Cancellation for summer week – sleeps 12 Aug 2nd

We have had a cancellation for an August week at Trewarren at Harlyn Bay.

Trewarren sleeps 12 and is located just behind the beach. It has its own private garden, and you can walk down a footpath to reach the middle of the beach – very civilized. The house is full of character, and has returning guests year after year.

But what else is available for August?

Trewalder, just completed and made available, sleeping 8 over the beach at Treyarnon, has the 1st week and last week of August free to let – while Tregarne and Carnavis (both sleeping 6) also have last week of August unreserved – otherwise August is booked out. So move fast if these options may work for you!!

Hot weather coming – anyone for cricket?

The country seems to be agog with talk of more boiling weather this weekend and on into May! Who knows, but if the forecast does stay good, its such a great time to be in Cornwall – let us know if you fancy coming down – even for 2 or 3 nights.

There is still availability in May – so make a dash down, and you might be able to enjoy a little piece of summer. Take if from someone who spent a few days on the beach leading up to Easter – it was georgeous! Here we are enjoying a spot of cricket on Tregirls beach with some friends who have made the trip over from the ‘dark side’ of the Camel!
