Just a quick note about a great BBC4 show on last night (Monday 25th July) that was originally broadcast in December 2010.
A sweeping narrative telling the story of St Ives artists such as Alfred Wallis, Ben Nicholson, Barbara Hepworth and wonderful Patrick Heron – great fun and fascinating. Worth a sleepy 90 minutes (and particularly Patrick Heron’s home, Eagles Nest above Zennor) – allowing you to impress friends and family round the art galleries of Padstow and St Ives.
Dedicated to those who visit Beyond The Sea in Middle Street each visit to Padstow hoping to find their perfect painting at a price they can afford – but alas, always disappointed.
Catch it for the next 5 days on Iplayer

Very happy to see fresh fish being sold in St Merryn again. Its been a lean period, travelling into Padstow always, and over the winter only having Stein’s deli selling any fish at all. Not good.
So, Kernow Fish I guess will only be only the summer months – but very welcome all the same. They’re located right on the cross-roads opposite the petrol station. Worth a stop.
So please try and use them – lots of business will mean fresher fish, bigger choice and….well, more fish and seafood!!
Prices are keen (or so I’m told!) and the fish and seafood looked great when I turned up for photos.
Kernow Fish advertises 2 numbers – mobile sounds good 07784 347421, or if not, 01841 532137.
Give them a ring.
Order what you need, ask for how you want it prepared, and asking price per kilo is not rude!!
Let us know how you get on.

Unfortunately one of our guests has had to cancel their holiday at Penpor on Saturday August 20th.
Penpor is a good-sized property that was refurbished in 2010, and now is beautifully presented with a great deal of style. It’s located just near Constantine Bay Stores and the surf shop – just a few minutes walk from Trevose Golf Club and only a short walk down to Constantine or Treyarnon Bays.
It has a private terrace and garden at the back, and is perfect to provide a relaxed haven in Constantine while being right in the midst of all the action!!
It is priced at £1995 for the week. Contact us by email or call 01841 520228 to discuss and book!

I am very happy with the new addition to the Raintree fleet – a 1992 classic Toyota Land Cruiser.
Having looked at electric vans (coming one day soon…maybe….) and other very environmental options, I hope now to be building a fleet of classic cars to carry our housekeeping teams the short distances around the 6 beaches.
Environmentally friendly? Well, the Land Cruiser doesn’t have the best fuel economy, but with hopefully many years ahead, and many miles covered already, her length of service should count to her green credit!
So – wave Hi as you see her trundling about. Hopefully you won’t see her expired by the side of the road!
As I write the weather is great! Full sun and warmish. After a disappointing month of June generally, the weather has really picked up this week – feeling like summer again.
If you are lucky enough to be able to be able to grab a week or few days at the last minute, we have a few days still free over the next couple of weeks.
If you have a smaller party (just the 2 of you?), never mind, get in touch. You may get the run of a palatial house for a few days!
Enjoy the weather!
