The Property
- Atmosphere
The location and views really define Trenley. There are magnificent views across the Atlantic Ocean to Trevose Head and Wales beyond. Trenley is situated in what is known as "The Field" where six other dwellings reside at the top of the sand dunes leading down to the sandy beach and the sea. Inside, the house retains its character and provides a great base for your holiday whether in summer or winter. There are new carpets and new duvets for 2010. The kitchen and living areas are very smart – additionally benefiting from being on the 1st floor with amazing views.
- Sleeping
There are two entrances into Trenley, and with the house being sited on a small rise, one enters the property at ground level, whereas the more formal front door can be found round to the back of the house at 1st or raised ground floor level. The bedrooms are split – two downstairs and two upstairs. Downstairs, the first room has a double bed, wash basin, fitted cupboards, wardrobes and drawers. Opposite is a similar bedroom with two 2ft6in single beds. There is a shower room next door.
On the raised ground floor are two more bedrooms. One bedroom at the back of the property has dual aspect so that you can sit in bed and look at the sea and up to Trevose Head. This room has twin beds, wash basin, fitted wardrobe and drawer space, bedside tables and bedside lights. The other bedroom faces the sea, giving views down to the beach. This room has a 5ft double bed, fitted cupboards, wash basin, bedside tables and lights over the bed.
- Bathrooms
There are two bathrooms at Trenley. Downstairs there is a shower room with loo and basin. Upstairs, the main bathroom has a bath and basin – while a separate loo can be found next door.
- Living
The comfortable sitting room is at the head of the stairs and has windows looking out in three directions making it spacious and light. There are comfortable sofas and chairs, side tables, TV, DVD, loads of books and games in the bookcases and a CD player. The balcony outside the kitchen/dining room also provides fantastic views and a great place to sit and relax.
- Kitchen and Dining
The refurbished kitchen/dining area lies to the right of the sitting room and is well equipped with cooking utensils, cooker, dishwasher, microwave, fridge/freezer and lots of cupboard space. The dining part has a long table with space for eight. There are French doors leading to the balcony where one can sit and admire the view. The back door from the kitchen leads out on to the patio at the back of the house. This is a south-facing sun trap where you can have coffee or tea in the summer sun.
- Facilities
The washing machine and tumble dryer can be found in the garage at Trenley. Fast wireless broadband is available at Trenley. A hard tennis court is available for use right next to Trenley - it is shared with the handful of houses located in 'The Field' at Harlyn. Trenley has has Solar PV fitted in November 2011 - so please try to do your tumble drying during the day when the sun is shining!
Outside
Trenley is situated in ‘The Field’ and there is no clearly delineated or enclosed garden. But the surroundings are quiet with no traffic other than servicing the 5 properties, and so there is ample room for running and for ball games – of course being sensitive to others. The grass area around the back of the house is certainly considered Trenley’s garden. This area receives wonderful sun all day, and the terrace here, with table and benches, is a perfect warm place to sit out of the breeze.
In the garage there is a washing machine, garden table, chairs for the patio and you can keep your coal and logs here too. There is plenty of space for storage of beach and surfing paraphernalia. The driveway has space for at least two cars.
The tennis court is shared by the houses in ‘The Field’ and is for your use.
Nearby
Trenley lies behind the sand dunes at Harlyn Bay and a short walk down to the cliff tops leads along the cliff path and straight down onto the middle of Harlyn beach. Harlyn beach is one of the best family beaches around – very long with plenty of sand even at high tide. The beach car park is at one end of the beach, and many do not make further than the 1st half of the beach. From where the footpath ends in steps down to the beach, the beach is absolutely magnificent – with fantastic rock formations, small caves and overhangs in which to sunbathe and relax. When the sun is out and the air is warm, this end of Harlyn really feels almost tropical.
Alternatively, you can walk down the road in a few minutes to Harlyn bridge, and onto the beach by the car park. Here you can hire surf boards and book surf lessons. Harlyn is well renowned for surfing – being protected from the prevailing winds and yet still picking up plenty of waves. It’s a perfect place to learn, and you will find that many surf schools do most of their training here.
The Harlyn Inn can be found just behind the beach down by the bridge – providing refreshments and pub food every day of the week. There are also pool tables here. In the same building, there is a beach shop and take away. There is also a take-away van in the car park up on the headland during high season – good for energy after being in the sea!
