The Property

  • Atmosphere

Veilsfield is an art deco property at the end of a lane very near to the beach at Trevone. The style of the property is carried throughout, with chunky wood furniture, laminate flooring, neutral carpets and quality fittings. The owner’s atmospheric photographs of Trevone are perfect throughout, as is the stained glass window half-way up the wide staircase. In summer, giant sliding doors in the living room and the patio doors from the downstairs bedroom open the house up to its completely private west facing garden. Light fills the house and makes Veilsfield a wonderful place to stay.

  • Sleeping

The downstairs bedroom is spacious, uncluttered looking out over the back garden, which can be accessed straight out of the large patio doors. The room is beautifully furnished with a king-sized bed, bedside table and reading lights, chest of drawers and wardrobe. The beautiful and original parquet floor really compliments the style and comfort of this room.

Upstairs, all the rooms are furnished with new beds and new bedroom furniture. The main bedroom has windows on two sides affording views across the roofs to Stepper Point on one side and over fields and houses to Trevose Head from the other. It is a large double room which has a king size bed, simply but classically furnished to a high standard. The second bedroom has twin beds and a bay window giving wonderful views.

The third bedroom also has a dual aspect, twin beds and similar simple but stylish furnishings. This room almost has the best views - to the sea and over the garden and fields. All rooms have window blinds, fitted wardrobes, a chest of drawers, stainless steel laundry bins for your washing, and a good feeling of space.

  • Bathrooms

The main family bathroom located off the landing and has an ‘over the bath’ power shower, bath, large heated towel rail, large storage cupboard, basin and loo. A radio is provided for perfect relaxation. Downstairs, off the kitchen is a mosaic tiled room with a shower cubicle, basin and loo. The shower is powerful and effective.

  • Living

The front door leads into a small lobby and then into a spacious hall. Tucked around the corner, under the stairs, is a delightful little telephone and writing area. A lovely long table is placed beneath a small window and a well stocked book shelf.

The sitting room faces the garden with large patio doors opening onto the large decked area outside. There are two Italian leather sofas and a chair, all furnished with cushions, and occasional glassed topped tables, lamps, stainless steel accessories, wall lights and a cupboard painted in a gentle shade of cream. The room is comfortable and well furnished.

  • Kitchen and Dining

The kitchen is well equipped, spacious and attractive. The cooking is by gas hob and electric oven, and the room is further equipped with microwave and dishwasher. The cookware is of good quality and there are coffee plungers and a hob-top percolator. At the far end of the kitchen through the archway is the dining area, with a heavy oak table and seating for eight. Again large patio doors open out to the decking and garden – perfect for supper on a summer evening when it’s a little too chilly to be outside.

Accessed from the garden, part of the garage has been altered into a playroom to allow youngsters to play in peace and/or watch their own television when the weather dictates staying inside.

  • Facilities

Off the kitchen is a small lobby which has a utility room on the left with a washing machine, tumble dryer and the boiler. The back door here leads out to the garden and the washing line.

Outside

The garden is beautiful and secluded. On the decked area there is a wooden table (with parasol) with seating for eight, which is ideal for meals al fresco, or you can just rest on the sun loungers if you prefer. The garden is surrounded by a hedge and is mostly laid to lawn. The side gate has been made childproof so you can relax while the children play.

The garage has been specially designed to allow for bicycles to rest, all buckets and spades to be housed on shelves built for them and a rail on which wet suits may hang. The sun lounger cushions are kept in here, as is the barbecue. There is space for parking two cars - all others must go in the car park.

Nearby

Veilsfield is situated on a corner plot at the end of Bay Road only one hundred and fifty yards from the main sandy beach. A little further round is Newtrain beach and the natural swimming pool. AT the end of Bay Road is the surfshop and café. A little further back from the beach is the village shop for daily papers and bread. The Well Parc pub is close by.

Padstow is only 5 minutes drive away, with shopping, boat trips and superb eating. Walking is wonderful in both directions along the coast path.
