Merrymor at Constantine Bay goes live today! Great to add another good Constantine house to Raintree!
Over the next few years, Merrymor will change quite alot but right now its a clean and tidy house right in the centre of Constantine. It has a great terrace and garden and a conservatory which is sure to make for long and fun evenings in summer…or indeed all year round.
Its well priced, pending ongoing improvements by long term and fun Raintree guests, and now owners. It has July and August weeks free. It’s a Wednesday change house, and right next door to Pendoric. May be good to bag a summer week or 2 and enjoy the ride over the next few years!

Very pleased to see our neighbour Simon has got his wind turbine up and running!
Quite a large one too. Sure it will make fantastic returns for him, and will provide loads of green electricity to all of us who are nearby (not that we will know it…just the way the grid works…)
I hope to see a few more – but smaller probably – springing up. One small Proven turbine (smaller and more unobtrusive, see below) at Booby’s Bay could provide all the power the 4 houses need – what fun.
As many may know, I am big into Solar PV. Also ideal, and many of our houses are getting involved – great!

Just thought I would draw everyone’s attention to one of our new houses, Pendoric at Constantine. Its a lovely house with a large private garden, and a great location right by the shops and Trevose Golf Club at Constantine.
Its been very well refurbished – comfortable and understated throughout. King sized double, twin and great fun, right-angled bunk beds. What to do? Well, you can enjoy the sheltered terrace, or play cricket in the garden, or head down its private path to pop out right by Trevose Golf Club. Then a few minutes walk down to fantastic Constantine Bay; or relax and enjoy Trevose.
There are still August weeks left to rent – so get in fast for a house that you just may find you want to come back to again and again!

Not in North Cornwall myself.
Drizzling in Gloucestershire!
New Year by the sea would be nice – and some shelter on Harlyn bringing in I think some nice waves.Cosy fires…
We still have a handful of houses left – Tresillian and Trenley at Harlyn, and Flintstones at Constantine – sleeping 13, 8 and 10 respectively. Still could work! Email us on enquiries@raintreehouseholidays.co.uk if you fancy going for it!

Hi, hope everyone is getting sorted for Christmas.

If you have still not finalised arrangements, or wondering whether a bit more space – or just a change – may be ideal, read further! Either with just your family, or with a bigger family group, perhaps consider coming to North Cornwall?
Have a look at our Christmas and New Year page. For Christmas, Trewarren, Curlews, Flintstones are still available sleeping 10 or over. Or 7/8, we have The Buck, Penpor, Westwinds, Trenley (with new Solar PV power!) and the lovely Sailaway still available to let.
All houses let for Christmas will have a Christmas tree and ‘green decorations’ – holly and mistletoe. Perfect for you to bring a box of baubles to complete.

Sailaway is already ready for Christmas – get in the mood! Speak to the office if Sailaway’s large tree, toasty heating and gas wood-burner (not to mention the views), all sound rather appealing!

Well, another October half-term week is over.

I was a little worried with some heavy rain and storms forecast – and so it proved for Monday and Thursday. But in between, some amazing sunny and warm weather.
From the comments we have received, I think most have had a really good week. Even 1 house that seemed to be jinxed with broken washing machine, lack of hot water, and a tripping cooker, seems to have a really good fun week!! The weather! Proving again, when its warm and the sun comes through for a few days over the week, October half-term is a winner.
Couple of house fulls have been telling me how they have been in the sea every day. Warm water and sunshine. Friday at Constantine was like summer, as can be seen in the photos. Plenty of people heading up and down the beach road, many in wetsuits and clutching boogie boards. Others picnic’ing on the beach, or rock pooling at late morning low tide. It really has felt like an extension of summer, and well done to everyone for making the effort – thanks!
But if you missed it, or had such fun you want to come back, come for weekend in November? Or some Christmas shopping at the beginning of December when Padstow hosts its Christmas festival. Friday 2nd to 4th December is quite fun, with stalls and cooking demonstrations all over town. Book lunch at the Seafood and make a treat of it – you deserve it (don’t you?)!!!
Thanks to Jane and Sharon for making such a great pumpkin the other day. They are our latest full time, long term, staff. And we are very happy to have them. After coming down from Lincolnshire for the summer, they decided that things weren’t too bad down here at all, and are going to stay a while longer. We hope they’ll stay next year and beyond!! Their rather drafty caravan is being swapped for a cottage and wood burner on Monday, so we wish them all the best.
Have a good Halloween!

Sam has left us!
Thanks for a many years of hard work, Sam!!
Sam has headed up our Housekeeping team for the last couple of years – doing all the planning, training, coaxing and cajoling, as well as plenty of hard housekeeping work herself. She’s now heading off travelling with her long-term boyfriend Andy – have a great time!
To celebrate Sam’s trip and the end of the season (still seems pretty busy down here though!!), we all went out for supper last week at Madrips.
We were looked after very well – and the food was great. Thanks to Eddie, James, Graham.
Jo will be taking over Sam’s role – we wish her all the best. I’m sure she can keep up the high standards set already. She will be ably helped by Jane, Sharon, Anita and Mark. With the autumn and winter looking quite busy, it looks like 2011 season is set to run and run!

Very happy to report an excellent supper at Madrips – Rocky Point at Trevone. For so long wished for evening dining at such a great location (loads of parking, comfortable with nice terrace…..fantastic views across Trevone and the headland beyond), so very happy to enjoy such a good meal.
Young team from the Cornish Arms are now running the evenings (every night except Monday, give James a ring on 01841 520275) and serving rather tasty food. For me, mussels in cider (the best!) and a good sirloin steak. For others, delicious and delicately prepared monkfish. Great.
My night at Madrips was however responsible for me staying Friday night (a rather comfortable 1 night at Seascape - thank you)…and rather casually leaving Cornwall at 10:15 Saturday morning. Not super early…but ok to beat the worst of the traffic? 8 hours and 45 minutes later I got to my destination (a journey of 2 hours 50 is normal). Nightmare.
For all those who would rather have a changeover mid week, or at worst on a Sunday rather than Saturday – let us know. Our owners would be interested. For me, Saturday travel will always be treated with due respect in the future!

Just a quick note about a great BBC4 show on last night (Monday 25th July) that was originally broadcast in December 2010.
A sweeping narrative telling the story of St Ives artists such as Alfred Wallis, Ben Nicholson, Barbara Hepworth and wonderful Patrick Heron – great fun and fascinating. Worth a sleepy 90 minutes (and particularly Patrick Heron’s home, Eagles Nest above Zennor) – allowing you to impress friends and family round the art galleries of Padstow and St Ives.
Dedicated to those who visit Beyond The Sea in Middle Street each visit to Padstow hoping to find their perfect painting at a price they can afford – but alas, always disappointed.
Catch it for the next 5 days on Iplayer
