Key Features
- Atmosphere
Cheyney has real presence – its huge glass windows and overall design dominate its site, and its interior provides a wonderful living experience. Light and space abound, with the design ensuring that large parties can be accommodated easily. High quality fittings and its design as a ‘low environmental impact’ property give a very ‘special’ feeling to all who stay. The close proximity of shops, golf, beach, walking, swimming and tennis ensures a great holiday.
- Sleeping
The bedrooms have comfortable beds, good hanging shelf or drawer space, bedside lights and bedside tables. The floors throughout upstairs are stripped wood matching the high quality wooden beds and furniture. A walkway links the two sides of the house at 1st floor level, providing a dramatic view of the living space below. Two of the double rooms have en-suite shower rooms.
- Bathrooms
The amount and quality of the bathrooms certainly matches a property of Cheyney’s stature. A beautiful oak staircase leads the way to the first floor from the hallway and dining area. Two of the double rooms have en-suite showerooms, and there are two other main bathrooms available for the three other bedrooms. These bathrooms are beautifully equipped with quality baths with showers over , loos, basins , stone floors and high quality fittings. Showers are spacious, hot and powerful, baths are deep and long. There is also a separate shower room downstairs with loo.
- Living
There are two delightful sitting rooms, both with TVs, and both designed such that one can be a quiet room and one full of fun, complete with table football. All top quality furnishings are provided – throughout with the utmost taste and style. Both are comfortably fitted with big sofas and plenty of room to relax. A wood burner is provided for extra cosy warmth on colder evenings. The main double height living space also provides two large sofa’s, a coffee table and two wicker chairs. The whole living area is extremely special and works very well for large groups and more intimate evenings alike.
- Kitchen and Dining
A dream kitchen, in chilli red and stainless steel, with a large ‘island’ at the centre provides a great space for cooking and relaxation. An electric ceramic hob cooker, integral microwave, larder fridge, freezer, plenty of work space and oodles of drawers containing everything you could wish for, make cooking on your holiday a real pleasure.
Under a fabulous vaulted ceiling is the large dining table which can be extended to seat 14. Floor to ceiling windows allow plenty of light into the kitchen and dining area.
- Facilities
Cheyney is heated throughout with under-floor heating. This is provided by a state of the art ‘ground-source’ heat pump, where heat from the ground outside is collected and used to make Cheyney as hot as you like all year round. It’s an extremely efficient system – providing a further sense of well-being for those so inclined. A rain harvesting and recycling system goes further in ensuring that your stay has the minimum impact on Cornwall’s fragile and wonderful environment. For more everyday necessities, the utility room is off the main hall, with washing machine, tumble dryer and sink, and opposite is a shower room with loo. There are 2 downstairs TVs - one with BT Sport/YouView and one with Freeview.
- Outside
There is a large patio immediately in front of the main French doors which provides a perfect spot to eat in comfort on warm sunny days. The rest of the garden is laid to lawn with plenty of space for ball games and relaxation. The garage at the back of the house has garden furniture. Care must be taken of course. Special space has been allotted for wet suits and surfing gear. There are two outside taps one for drinking water and one for washing cars or watering the garden. There is parking for 3 or 4 cars on the drive and around the back of the house. A large wooden gate provides security and privacy.
- Nearby
Cheyney is located on the edge of Constantine surrounded on one side by open fields. Trevose Golf Club is minutes walk away, providing access to the most spectacular golf course, tennis and swimming as well as a thriving bar and restaurant available to all. The well-stocked Constantine Bay Stores is also minutes walk away, with a range of quality goods that should allow you to avoid your car and the supermarket for quite a while on your stay. Constantine Bay surfshop next door will ensure you are well-informed and well-equipped to enjoy the wonderful beaches and surf on your doorstep – whether you wish to buy or rent your wetsuits and boards, or just have your first surf lesson.
The beach at Constantine can be reached down the beach road past the shops, or down a small footpath from the corner of the golf club and down along the edge of the golf course. The path emerges in the middle of the fantastic dunes at the centre of the beach after less than 10 minutes walk.
St Merryn is the nearby village providing pubs and shops, as well as a number of restaurants including Rafferty's, the Olive Tree or the Cornish Arms for a good supper. Padstow is only 10 minute's drive away -with its array of boutique shops and gourmet eateries.

Overall we had a great holiday at Cheyney, despite the power cut, which added to the adventure. It is a lovely house that really suited our family because of the different living spaces – no clashes over who wanted to watch what. It is clearly a much loved family home and that showed in the comfort and facilities available. In all my years of renting holiday homes in Cornwall, I don’t think I have come across a more cook’s friendly kitchen than at Cheyney.

Cheyney is a fabulous house, lots of space and had everything we needed. This was my first booking with Raintree, this was very easy to do, great to have nice helpful people at the other end of the phone, although we did not need to contact you during our stay it was nice to know that help/advice was available during our stay. You kindly moved one of the single beds into a down stairs room for our stay, cannot tell you what a help that was. All of us will be recommending Raintree to our friends and work colleague
