Key Features
The Property
- Atmosphere
Commons Meadow House is located on the edge of Constantine, tucked away down a quiet lane, but in easy reach of the shops, golf course and of course the beach. It’s a large house easily swallowing 2 or 3 families, all with plenty of character. It is comfortable and has been updated alongside more period features - new bathrooms, TV, and re-decorated bedrooms, alongside the retro exposed stonework. The games room is a favourite - providing hours of fun for the children whatever the weather, and the huge and flat front garden and sunny courtyard terrace provide plenty of space for everyone to enjoy. The feel throughout is 'relaxed' - a great beach holiday house for big groups of family or friends! The large hall with front door out to the garden, the L shaped sitting/dining room with big sliding doors to the terrace, and at the far end of the house, the games room - all ensure enjoyment for your party and a bit of quiet when needed too!
- Sleeping
The 5 bedrooms at Commons Meadow are spread over the ground and 1st floor. The master bedroom is upstairs - a large west-facing room with access to the roof terrace which will be further updated in the future but currently is good for private sunbathing or perhaps getting away with your book! There is a king-sized bed, and a large walk-in wardrobe with plenty of hanging and 3 or 4 shelves. The 2nd bedroom is next door - painted all white, with a 4ft 6in double bed, 2 bedside tables, a chest of drawers and a built-in wardrobe.
The 3rd bedroom upstairs is the 'dormitory' - featuring bunk beds and 2 wooden frame single beds. It's a large room - plenty of fun for the children! There are 2 bedside tables, a dressing table with drawers, and another huge walk-in wardrobe also with shelves. There is also a fitted basin. The 2nd bedroom and the bunk/twin room both look out over the garden and the village of Constantine Bay. Downstairs are two twin rooms. The twin at the front of the house is a dual aspect room - with great light and views across the garden. The beds are modern divan beds and comfortable. There is a wardrobe and a chest of drawers as well as bedside table and lamps. The 5th bedroom is next door and has a nautical theme - blues and boats. There are two single beds, a wardrobe, chest of drawers and a wall set of shelves with an assortment of books.
- Bathrooms
There are two main bathrooms at Commons Meadow. The family bathroom is found upstairs. It's smart and works well for big groups - a large walk-in shower is at one end, and the bath along the far wall, with two basins in between - perfect for a quick turnaround when needed, or a more leisurely soak when required. Downstairs, an equally well proportioned bathroom includes a 2nd walk-in shower with stone enclosure, and a bath. As well as loos in both bathrooms, there is a 3rd loo in the back lobby on the way to the games room.
- Living and Dining
The key to a relaxing holiday with a big group is having plenty of separate areas - and Commons Meadow scores highly! The hub of the house is the L shaped sitting and dining room complete with open fire. The sofas are comfortable and spacious. The main flat screen 46 inch Panasonic TV is here, as well as plenty of board games. The large dining table seats 12 comfortably. The whole room opens out onto the terrace outside - great on sunny and warm days.
Commons Meadow also enjoys a large hall area and big sweeping stairs leading up to the 1st floor - all leading to a feeling of space and calm. The games room at the other end of the house also features sofas and arm chairs and a large TV - so competition on what to watch should be avoided - a 2nd large TV is always welcome when children and adults both want to relax after a tiring day at the beach or on the golf course.
- Kitchen
The kitchen is well-sized and features a wooden fitted kitchen, tall larder fridge, oil-fired Stanley aga-like cooker, electric hob and twin electric ovens, microwave, fitted dishwasher and a one and a half stainless steel sink. There is plenty of worktop and cupboard space, as well as table and cookware for the whole week. In the utility room, there is a washing machine and separate dryer, along with a large fridge/freezer and sink.
- Facilities
Commons Meadow House is heated by oil central heating and it has an open fire, There is wireless broadband and a landline telephone. As mentioned already the games room provides a host of fun activities for adults and children alike. There is a table tennis table, table football , darts as well as the odd body boards and other beach essentials. There are 2 sofas as well as a huge bean bag. Big sliding doors open out onto the front drive - all making the games room a huge fun and helpful room for your holiday.
Outside
A built-in BBQ is found on the terrace round towards the front of the house. The terrace itself is paved and has a table and seating for outside meals. The front drive is also very sunny - and you may find yourself sat out here while others spill out from the games room. The garden itself is large and flat - perfect for running and all manner of ball games. If the beach is a little windy, you could move the cricket evening session back to the garden - with room to spare!
Nearby
Common Meadows is located on the edge of Constantine surrounded on one side by open fields and found down a rough track left just after entering Constantine. Trevose Golf Club is a few minutes walk away, providing access to the most spectacular golf course, tennis, swimming as well as a thriving bar and restaurant available to all. The well-stocked Constantine Bay Stores is a few minutes further away, with a range of quality goods that should allow you to avoid your car and the supermarket for quite a while on your stay. Constantine Bay surf shop (next door to the stores) will ensure you are well-informed and well-equipped to enjoy the wonderful beaches and surf on your doorstep – whether you wish to buy or rent your wetsuits and boards, or just have your first surf lesson.
The beach at Constantine can be reached down the beach road past the shops, or down a small footpath from the corner of the golf club and down along the edge of the golf course. The path emerges in the middle of the fantastic dunes at the centre of the beach after less than 10 minutes walk. You can also turn left out of the gates, follow the track down, and then right at the bottom - after a few minutes you will pop out by the shops. St Merryn is the nearby village providing pubs and shops, as well as a number of restaurants including Rafferty's, the Olive Tree or the Cornish Arms for a good supper. Padstow is only 10 minute's drive away - with its array of boutique shops and gourmet eateries.

We thought the house was probably one of the best houses for large groups in that price range we have stayed in previously. The house layout worked well, the garden was ideal for small children and we all agreed the showers were fab – rare in a holiday let.

Great holiday. Just right for our children and grandkids. Very peaceful after they left. Really like the house. Thanks for the cake!

Thank you for a wonderful holiday. My husband and I took our two sons (14 and 17 yrs old) and three of their friends. They had a fabulous week, of course particularly enjoyed the playroom with its darts, table tennis and table football. One of the boys wrote me a thank you letter and said it was the best holiday he had ever been on! The all learnt to surf and enjoyed a coasteering session as well. They caught Mackerel from a boat trip in Padstow which we BBQ’d at home that evening. The house is so well equipped, particularly the kitchen. I even managed to make a birthday cake for my husband!

The internet at Commons Meadow House did drop quite a lot which made it difficult sometimes to do the work that my son and daughter unfortunately had to do.
This was the only thing I can think of to mention – everything else was great – including your service and communications!.

Commons Meadow House was lovely – and we couldn’t have picked two better weeks weather-wise! Looking forward to our next break there in September.
