  • Atmosphere

Herongate occupies an enviable spot tucked away on but close to the beautiful beaches and the Golf Club. It has been thoughtfully furnished and has striking contemporary interiors with interesting architectural features throughout. The ground floor has a spacious open plan layout with the kitchen flowing into the living space and the living space out into a light and bright sunroom and the terrace beyond. The sitting room and sunroom have multiple sets of bi-folding doors allowing the sounds of the garden and sunlight to flood in. The south facing rear garden and patio, feel pleasantly private and there are multiple paved levels that lead down to a large lawned garden. The house sleeps 8-10 in 5 bedrooms, with a spectacular master that features large glass doors that spectacularly open out to views down over the terrace and garden. It’s only a few minute’s walk to the nearby Trevose Golf Club and down to the beautiful nearby beach at Constantine Bay.

  • Sleeping

Herongate sleeps up to 10 in 5 bedrooms. The ground floor bedrooms take up one side of the house, down a hallway that can be reached from both the sitting room and kitchen. The bedrooms on the ground floor are made up of a King as you first enter the corridor and then there is a single/optional twin room at the end of the corridor, which doubles as a playroom. The king has a purple padded headboard, dark wood contemporary chest of drawers, fitted wardrobe and pleasant views out over the garden. Matching floor to ceiling curtains set off a spacious and light filled room. The single/twin bedroom can be used as a playroom/snug for the children, or can be made up as one 3ft single or a two 3ft twin beds. As a playroom, the good quality day bed provides comfortable seating along with two beanbags, while relaxing or watching TV. The room also has a good selection of board games, TV, DVD and chest of drawers, while hanging for clothes, if needed, is from hooks in the hall outside. Please ask if you want this room made up as a bedroom.

Striped carpet stairs and a wooden bannister lead you upstairs, and to the first twin bedroom, which is to the right as you come to the top of the stairs. This bedroom (as with all the bedrooms) is spacious and light, and furnished with two white painted wooden single beds. Interesting pictures and curtains again make for an attractive setting, while the features of the room include a fitted wardrobe with a good amount of clothes space, a chest of drawers and stylish lounge chair.

The next bedroom is down the corridor off to the left - the master bedroom and a particularly breathtaking space. High ceilings, feature lighting and large glass doors help to create great drama. The doors can be fully opened to create a Juliet balcony, from which you can look right down over the garden, or left open, while shutting the floor to ceiling wooden shutters to provide dark and privacy. The King size bed has a deep comfortable mattress, and a patterned padded headboard, as well as a warm throw and luxurious bed clothes. The room also has neat fitted cupboards all around the corner of room which provide ample clothes storage. Further along at the end of the corridor is the final twin room with comfortable beds with dark grey headboards, again attractive and contemporary furniture, including a chest of drawers, comfy lounge chair, small flat screen TV.  A large window to the side has views across the palms, coloured gardens and rooftops of Constantine out towards Trevose Head, where a small but tantalising 'V' of blue sea can be glimpsed.

  • Bathrooms

There are 3 bathrooms at Herongate one on the ground and two on the first. The ground floor bathroom is off the hallway with a built in shower, toilet and basin. The other two are both on the first floor. Once up the stairs the first is straight ahead and features bath , basin and loo. The fittings are of good quality. The last bathroom is down the landing on the right, the smaller of the two, with corner shower cubicle, loo and basin. All are well presented, with modern fixtures and fittings maintaining the contemporary and well-designed feeling of the entire house.

  • Living

The living area is spectacular with windows and bi-folding doors surrounding the space allowing masses of light to flood the downstairs of the house. There are two sets of bi-folds that once opened lead you directly out onto the paved terrace and then down steps to the lawn below. Ample seating is provided by three and two seater sofas and two further seats neatly clustered around the feature inset wood burner.  There is also a further sun room that is accessed from the sitting room with a quirky circular portal window cut high into the wall at one end. This space provides a very inviting sunny corner to relax in with the ability to fully open the 2nd set of  bi-fold doors and allow the sun in whilst looking out over the terraces and down to the garden. There is a further sofa here, and two other chairs. As with the whole ground floor, the windows are dressed with white roller blinds behind curtains or further blinds.

  • Kitchen and Dining

The kitchen space is an open plan space with modern kitchen units and attractive slate floor. The kitchen units are arranged in a U shape with the ceramic hob and further cupboard space built into recesses in the wall. There is a twin oven, large fridge/freezer and a Nespresso machine. The kitchen leads directly into a large dining area, dominated with a large wooden table seating 10, looking great on stripped wooden floors and furnished in the corner with a feature stainless steel spot light. The open ground living space continues round into the sitting room and out of the doors to the terrace and garden. From the kitchen, a door leads down the hallway to the ground floor bathroom, bedrooms and entrance hall.

  • Outdoor space

The garden has multiple paved terraces to enjoy the sun, accessed from both the sun room and the sitting room respectively.  Good quality wooden furniture with 10 chairs makes the best of the sun and all the warmth that the south facing location can provide. Its a great place to relax - whether over breakfast, a long lunch, or into a warm summer's evening. The terraces lead down to a large lawned garden with neat retaining walls and a super flat area of lawn to play on at the bottom, a great space for children to play or a dog to tire itself out. You may even be able to pick some rhubarb! The garden is a quiet, tranquil, private and peaceful place to relax. It can also be reached around the side of the property from the front drive. There is a good sized outside store - useful for wetsuits, surfboards and golf clubs storage.

  • Facilities

Oil fired central heating ensures the property is warm all year round. Herongate has a useful and well-furnished utility room accessed through the backdoor, providing a 2nd one and half steel sink, washing machine, dishwasher and microwave, as well as good storage and worktop - really important when there is no choice but to get a couple of big loads of washing done! The kitchen is equipped with a ceramic hob, fridge freezer, electric double oven, 4 slot toaster and Nespresso machine. There is wireless broadband and a pay-phone, and mobile reception is reasonable. There are 3 TVs - in the main sitting room, in the 5th bedroom/snug, and in the far upstairs twin room. There is a great outdoor shower, useful digital Roberts radio and parking for 2-3 cars.

  • Nearby

Herongate is located behind Trevose Golf Course and the golf club for many will be the hub of activity over their stay. The beach at Constantine Bay (or Treyarnon) is less than 15 minutes walk away and all the 6 beaches of the area accessible in minutes by car. The golf course provides more than just golf! The tennis courts are available for hire and the outdoor pool a favourite for many. In the evening, the bar can be a lively place for a drink while watching the sun set over Trevose Head and Booby’s Bay. Supper can also be eaten here.

Constantine Bay Stores nearby provides an inspired selection of foods and provisions, allowing guests to keep away from the supermarket perhaps for the whole stay! Des’ surf shop next door is the local place to go to hire or buy all surfing and beach gear.

I just wanted to send a quick note to let you know that we had the BEST HOLIDAY EVER in Herongate this summer!!!

It’s probably our 20th or 25th time with Raintree (across loads of different houses) and it just seems to get better every year. Maybe it’s partly because the children are now almost adults!

First of all – the whole family would like to say a massive THANK YOU for everything. It was all absolutely perfect.

Second – we’d absolutely love to book Herongate again for the same two weeks next year 😊.

Stayed: 23rd Jun 2023

Stayed: 21st Apr 2023

We had a wonderful family stay that included other family members staying at the Golf Club which was within walking distance. Herongate provided a wonderful gathering spot for casual time together – we enjoyed the warmth of the sunroom for reading, family board games at the dining room table, and cooking together in the well appointed kitchen. The weather did not quite allow us to enjoy the large patio and garden but we are hopeful that might happen another time. Will hope to return another time.

Stayed: 30th Sep 2022

The holiday was perfectly timed for a glorious fortnight of hot and sunny weather especially when the rain was pouring at home, the house is perfectly situated for a quiet time away from home and family (if needed), the beds were very comfortable.

Thank you to the team at Raintree for all your organisation.
