The Property

  • Atmosphere

Penpor has a wonderful atmosphere and is beautifully finished. It has been completely refurbished and provides plenty of space for up to 8 guests. It has been well designed, with room for both fun and function. Penpor's external wooden cladding gives a 'New England' feel, and combines with the modern interior to provide a very special place to stay.

The main parts of the living space are furnished with stripped and bleached wood floors, while the bedrooms and upstairs space have neutral wool carpets. Throughout the house, art and design abound.

  • Sleeping

Penpor sleeps 8 across four spacious bedrooms. Downstairs, off the hall, can be found the master bedroom, furnished with a wood framed king-size bed and chest of drawers. Windows face out to the front of the property. At the back of the house, the 2nd bedroom is located by the large utility and bathroom. It is furnished with twin beds with painted wooden headboards and has its own door out to the terrace and back garden and is furnished with a hanging rail and a chest of drawers. Upstairs are the final two bedrooms. Each has twin beds and a chest of drawers. Hanging space is provided by a sturdy row of hooks on the back of each bedroom door.

  • Bathrooms

Penpor has two bathrooms and a cloakroom near the front door. Both bathrooms are spacious and are equipped with large baths, huge waterfall shower heads and solid perspex shower screens. One is found downstairs near the kitchen and downstairs twin - while the other is found upstairs off the landing.

  • Living

Penpor provides a large open-plan central living area centred around the kitchen.  The large main sitting room occupies the front of the house providing elegant and comfortable seating for the whole house. A large sisal rug covers the centre of the wooden floors,  while oat coloured sofas and armchairs, and white wooden side tables decorate the room. An interesting mirror with wooden frame is positioned over the mantelpiece between two small decorative rowing oars! A wood burner provides great warmth and atmosphere during the winter, or even on cool evenings. There is a TV, although the focus of the room is more about conversation and good times.

Next door a smaller sitting room provides a cosier feel. The main house TV is here. This may be a sitting room for the children to enjoy a film - or it could provide an escape from the hubbub of the main living rooms to read the papers. The back of the room has large French windows out to the back garden and terrace, bringing the outside into the house on warm summer days. Heavy green and taupe curtains ensure warmth on cool evenings with two large sofas providing comfortable relaxation.

  • Kitchen and Dining

The kitchen is really the heart of the house.  There is plenty of room for all - and plenty of space for the preparation of large family meals. Modern white units are topped by chic black worktops and a huge rangemaster cooker, hob and hood provides the focus. There is a Zanussi steel fridge/freezer, Nescafe Dolce Gusto coffee machine and an integrated wine rack. A large sisal rug fills the floorspace.

The kitchen opens out at the back of the house to the dining area. A wooden table provides dining for 8, with traditional pine chairs all round. A large colourful canvas adorns the wall and the double-height roof provides an open and airy atmosphere. Large French doors open up the back of the house to the terrace outside - marvelous for breakfast and summer evenings.

  • Facilities

Penpor is fortunate to have a large utility room that can be accessed directly from the front of the house. Its perfect for wet dogs and sandy children! Plenty of space and smart black slate tiles on the floor. A huge inset doormat in the entrance hall ensures the 'muckiest' parts of outside stay just there. The washer-dryer can be found here also, as well as a large basin and worktop. There is a steriliser for baby bottles also at the house - do request it and get confirmation if needed.

Outside

Doors all along the back of the house open out onto the terrace and the back garden beyond. Although quite small, the garden is enclosed, and provides plenty of space to relax or kick a ball around. Please note the garden is not entirely secure for dogs. There is a large paved terrace, with garden furniture and BBQ. At the front of the house, there is a gravel parking area for 2 or 3 cars. There is also plenty of opportunity park nearby.

Nearby

Penpor is situated in the heart of Constantine Bay - easy walking to wherever you wish to go! Trevose Golf Club is minutes walk away, providing access to the most spectacular golf course, tennis and outdoor swimming pool, as well as a thriving bar and restaurant available to all. The well-stocked Constantine Bay Stores is just at the top of the lane with a range of quality goods that should allow you to avoid your car and the supermarket for quite a while if you wish. It also provides delicious croissants for breakfast, and pasties for pack lunches. Constantine Bay surfshop next door will ensure you are well-informed and well-equipped to enjoy the wonderful beaches and surf on your doorstep – whether you wish to buy or rent your wetsuits and boards, or book your surf lesson. The beach at Constantine can be reached down the beach road past the shops in around 10 minutes easy walk. Or you can head across the campsite down to Treyarnon Bay in about the same time. St Merryn is the nearby village providing pubs and shops, as well as a number of restaurants. Padstow is only 10 minutes drive away - with its array of boutique shops and gourmet eateries.

We have had an amazing two weeks at Penpor, Constantine Bay. Penpor was perfect for everything we could have hoped and needed. It was very homely, comfortable, clean and very well equipped. The grandparents came for a few nights and they also thought it was fabulous. This has been our second time in Constantine and we love the area.

We enjoyed our stay at Penpor.  It is well situated, nicely decorated, clean, comfortable and a good size.  The house had a very nice feel to it.   The beds were comfortable and everything was in a very good state of repair.  It was great to find tennis rackets in the house too.  The cake was delicious by the way!

Stayed: 19th Jul 2018

We loved the house – all perfect for us. Only slight issue was that our small dog was able to get through to the next door neighbours garden with holes in the chicken wire. So dog proofing could def be improved. The rest couldn’t be faulted! Beautiful house in a perfect location.

Raintree Says:

Thank you for your comments about dog proofing the Garden. We will pass these on to the owner and aim to get this looked at shortly.

We were very pleased with this property, probably the best one we have stayed in over the last 10 years we have been coming to the Constantine/Treyarnon area so may well book it again next year if it is available for when we want to visit!
Everything about the house was perfect and had everything we need.

Stayed: 8th Apr 2017

Thank you for a wonderful week at Penpor House. We really enjoyed our stay in this very pleasant house, which has everything for a successful holiday.
We made many great walks in the area, mostly by foot directly from the house. The area around Constantine Bay is one of the most beautiful landscapes we have seen during the last two years of our lives in England. And we had so much luck – the weather was fabulous.

We will recommend RaintreeHouse and would rent the house again at any time. Many thanks also for the lovely Welcome Easter cake – especially the kids enjoyed it.
