The Property

  • Atmosphere

Ridgegrove has been created with real character, style and luxury to provide a great setting for your holiday at Constantine Bay. The specification throughout is very high, and the blues, greys and whites of the interior perfectly complement the seaside style of the cream weatherboard clad exterior. The open-plan living space is dominated by two sets of huge bi-folding doors that open up the whole room to the sheltered and private rear terrace and garden. The main living area has a superb large ceiling height also allowing for a mezzanine living space above. There is nowhere better for large family lunches and suppers that can then spill out onto the terrace. Its also perfect for cosy evenings with the huge glass doors providing comfortable protection from an Atlantic storm with the large wood burner keeping everyone toasty warm inside. The bedrooms are spacious and well furnished, and the 4 separate bath/shower rooms ensure no-one misses out.

  • Sleeping

There are 5 bedrooms at Ridgegrove, all at ground level. The master bedroom has a high quality king-sized wooden framed bed with 2 matching bedside tables and lamps alongside. The room is painted a light blue with cream wool carpet, and as with all the bedrooms the windows are shuttered. There is a large wardrobe and chest of drawers, an ensuite with 2 basins, a loo and a bath with a shower over.

The 2nd King size room is similarly furnished, with cream carpet, blue walls and white shutters. There is a large fitted cupboard, a small flat screen TV, full length mirror and your own ensuite – with loo, basin and walk-in shower. The bedroom is also nicely finished with tongue and groove panelling.

A twin (can be made as a superking on request) is also found off the main corridor and is well furnished with white wood framed beds and white window shutters. As with all the bedrooms, lighting is provided by ceiling down lighters and the bedroom furniture is modern and of good quality.

The 4th bedroom is furnished with twin beds. The 5th and final bedroom has bunk beds.

  • Bathrooms

There are plenty of bathrooms at Ridgegrove, perfect for a big group on holiday at the beach and on the golf course – with solid, good quality fixtures and attractive decoration in all. The family bathroom is half-way up the corridor and, along with the large walk-in power shower in the utility, provides bathing for 3 of the bedrooms. It has a bath, basin and loo.

The two main bedrooms also have ensuite bathrooms. The ensuite off the master bedroom has the 2nd bath of the house along with a good quality shower over with solid shower screen. The 2nd double room also has an ensuite, with large shower cubicle, loo and basin.

  • Living, Kitchen and Dining

Ridgegrove offers perfect open-plan living! The huge central living area provides plenty of space for large groups of 12 to relax and enjoy their ‘down time’ or to host wonderful celebration lunches or suppers. Huge double bi-folding doors, with large arched glass above, open up the whole space to the terrace and garden outside, while a large black and stainless, wall-mounted, modern wood burner and large blue sofas dominate the interior. The floor is tiled in black slate, and the feeling is very modern and smart, with muted natural colours used throughout.

A large flat screen TV provides entertainment in the main living area (as well as a selection of board games)  – though the huge opening out to the garden is what will really grab your attention. The kitchen and dining area is located at the back of main living area – with an island and wooden stools for an ad hoc breakfast or a cup of tea.  The large wooden dining table with benches down the sides provides the perfect place for more formal meal times – that is if you are not outside on the terrace!

The kitchen is of painted shaker style – a light green with a thick beech worktop and a large single Belfast sink. The cooker is a Rangemaster range cooker – with double ovens and a ceramic hob with too many burners to count! The large stainless steel fridge has double opening fridge doors, and a big shelved freezer area below. There is a dishwasher and microwave also.

The mezzanine floor is accessed from back in the hall area – a step up from the main living space onto a stripped wooden floor, with stairs then leading up from beside the front door. The mezzanine area is light, spacious and comfortable with 2 big grey sofas and a futon; the velux window, small side window and the glazed 'wall' out to the terrace and garden pouring in light, creating a great space for relaxation. This may well be your main evening spot after supper – to watch TV and chat about the day.

  • Facilities

Ridgegrove is very well equipped. It enjoys oil central heating throughout the house and is well insulated – with the large wood burner as well, Ridgegrove is warm and cosy all year round. There are DVD players for all, multiple TVs and an IPod doc in the main living room. The washing machine and dryer are tucked away in the utility off the main corridor. There is a warm outside shower - perfect to shower off after the beach.

The house is fantastic for babies and toddlers – available for guests are the following: 1 travel cot, 1 wooden high chair, bed guards and lots of children's books. NB Please do register your interest/requirements in all baby/toddler equipment on booking so we can make it all available for your arrival.

Outside

The main garden at Ridgegrove is at the back of the house and is plenty large enough for fun and ball games. It is accessed through the main bi-folding doors straight onto the sheltered terrace. Here there is a large wooden table with plenty of chairs for breakfast, lunch and supper out! There is also a wooden play house and a gas BBQ.

Round the front is also very spacious with plenty of secure parking for 4 or 5 cars. There is a rotary clothes drier and an outside shower conveniently located here for use when back from the beach.

Nearby

Ridgegrove is located at the edge of Crescent Rise in the heart of Constantine Bay. Trevose Golf Club is a couple of minutes walk away, providing access to the most spectacular golf course, tennis, swimming as well as a thriving bar and restaurant available to all. The well-stocked Constantine Bay Stores is also a short walk away, with a range of quality goods that should allow you to avoid using your car and the supermarket during your stay. Constantine Bay surf shop, next door, will ensure you are well-informed and well-equipped to enjoy the wonderful beaches and surf on your doorstep – whether you wish to buy or rent your wetsuits and boards, or just have your first surf lesson.

The beach at Constantine can be reached down the beach road past the shops, or down a small footpath from the corner of the golf club and down along the edge of the golf course. The path emerges in the middle of the fantastic dunes at the centre of the beach after less than 10 minutes walk, and gives easy access to Constantine itself or Booby’s Bay at the north end of the sweep of golden sand.

St Merryn is the nearby village providing pubs and shops, as well as a number of restaurants including Rafferty's, the Olive Tree or the Cornish Arms for a good supper. Padstow is only 10 minutes drive away - with its array of boutique shops, gourmet restaurants and the ferry across the Camel estuary to Rock and Polzeath.

My kindest regards and many thanks for all your, as-always, kindly, professional and very personal service. Always much appreciated.

Stayed: 13th May 2022

We so enjoyed our stay at Ridgegrove. The house is so well equipt and particularly perfect for a young family like us. All the team at Raintree were also very helpful before, during and after our visit. Thank you.

Stayed: 21st May 2021

We loved the property. The ONLY flaw was not having a stair gate at the bottom of the wooden stairs to the mezzanine. There were brackets on the wall from a previous stairgate, and numerous options that can be extendable to fit that width. Considering there are so many kids toys upstairs, the house lends itself to those with young families. Other than that – it was brilliant and we loved our stay.

Stayed: 20th Jul 2019

The house was fantastic – suited our family perfectly

Stayed: 21st May 2019

The house was very nice and we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly; a great escape for us after exams and in our final university year! The house was in a great location relative to the beach, our main focus for the getaway and had a great selection of home entertainment for the quieter days in. Once again, enjoyed the stay and will likely look through your other houses to see where else we can stay for next year!

Stayed: 16th Nov 2018

Stayed: 16th Mar 2018

We loved our stay at the house – thank you!

Stayed: 8th Sep 2017

We want to thank you for our amazing stay at Ridgegrove (despite the weather) It more than catered for our needs as 3 families joining together. We were glad that the house was ‘lived in’ as it made our stay more comfortable. The only thing I would recommend is a stair gate up to the upstairs, only as we had exploring toddlers. We would recommend to our family and friends in the future.

Stayed: 2nd Jun 2017

We have recently stayed at Ridgegrove and the house was lovely with lots to do for the kids which was perfect as we didn’t have the best weather-typical, it’s lovely now!
