Grove Cottage is right in the heart of the Cotswolds, surrounded by almost moorland with fantastic views and walking, while at the same time being very close to all the main towns and sporting events of this fantastic region. The house maintains the style - muted greys, and light pastel tones fill the interior, while a simple calm feeling fills the rooms. It has been refurbished, with new shower rooms, beds, mattresses and soft furnishings. The paintwork is refreshed every winter. Ceilings are low, floorboards are creaky, there is one wood burner and one open fire - it's a true Cotswolds cottage and a perfect base for your Cotswolds break.

All four bedrooms are on the 1st floor. The master bedroom is at the end of the landing, and has windows looking out down the valley (for morning sun) and across the lane to the vegetable plot. It has a king-sized large and heavy painted French bed, two bed side tables with Neptune lamps, a chest of drawers and a large fitted wardrobe. It has a smart ensuite shower room, with stone floors and walls, stone circular basin and super powerful shower.
The second bedroom is across the landing at the top of the stairs, and has a 4ft 6in double bed, bedside tables, chest of drawers and long peg rail for hanging dresses, jackets, shirts and coats. It also has a shower ensuite - again modern and powerful. Across the landing are the two further bedrooms. One has a double bed again, while the final bedroom is furnished with twin single beds. Each has a chest of drawers and peg rail for hanging, as well as neat bedside tables and lights. All have great views.
The family bathroom is upstairs off the landing. It has tongue-and-groove wood panelling to walls and is a nice cosy room to while away some time in a candle-lit free standing roll top bath. The bath has a hand-held shower attachment. It has a vintage Roberts radio for some crackly Radio 4 while soaking! There are also two ensuite shower rooms - each modern and powerful. Stone tiles and floors in both, along with high quality screens and shower units make showering a rewarding experience! There are 3 loos at the house - all upstairs.
- Living and Dining
Your main down-time will be spent in the cosy sitting room facing out over the main cottage garden. It has an open fire, a large 4 seater sofa, a small sofa and 2 arm chairs. The 40 inch flat screen TV is also found here, offering Sky free-to-air channels.
The dining room is next door. It has a wood burner - the best to fill the house with cosy warmth - and a large table that seats 8 comfortably and up to 12 if needed. Padded dining chairs, a Neptune sideboard, elegant side lights and a large framed map of the local area, all make for a great atmoshere. There is a Roberts DAB/Internet/IPod dock stereo here as well. You can connect to internet radio stations from round the world, use DAB or FM radio, or just plug in your Ipod/Phone or other digital music player or phone.
- Kitchen and Utility
The kitchen has been refurbished. It has heavy flagged floors, beech work surface, painted cabinets below the work top, and large open shelves. There are two under top fridges and a double Belfast sink sat in a heavy wood base unit with new white acrylic worktop. There are plenty of shelves up high for storage, and a large 'pantry' cupboard for dry goods and vegetables. Cooking is via a Kenwood electric range cooker while a Bosch dishwasher keeps all clean. A wide bench seat provides some relaxation, with views down the valley, and a small breakfast table allows up to 4 to enjoy breakfast or a snack in the kitchen. A vintage Roberts radio provides the sounds. Large French doors lead out onto the East terrace and great views.
There is also a separate utility room, which contains a chest freezer, Bosch washing machine and AEG tumble dryer, and a sink. There is plenty of room for your dog to make this room his/her own.
Oil fired central heating ensures the property is warm all year round. Grove Cottage is fully equipped with a washing machine, tumble dryer, and dishwasher. There are 2 under counter fridges built into the kitchen, and a chest freezer in the utility room. There is wireless broadband, a Roberts Internet/DAB stereo and 2 vintage Roberts radios.
Take you pick of areas to enjoy the outside - with a large terrace facing East, a smaller terrace on the South-West side leading onto the main cottage garden. This is largely flat with borders and Cotswold stone walls on each side. On one side, is the churchyard and very pretty Norman church, with rolling hills beyond. At the end, there is a simple, low treehouse allowing you to survey the village beyond. Across the (very) quiet lane, is the final piece of garden - with wooden swings and vegetable plot. The garage can be used for outside storage and can be found alongside this garden area with ample parking for 3 or 4 cars.
There are many reasons to spend some time in the Cotswolds - and most are very well catered for at Grove Cottage. For immediate, beauty, solitude and rugged charm, the village cannot be beaten. It is a no-through village with cars only passing for access to a handful of houses and the farm beyond. The whole village is great for walking round - you'll see plenty of others walking along the lanes, with dogs often free to roam. There are hundreds of walks to choose from - many with no need to get in the car at all. Biking is excellent and very popular in the area.
Or if sight-seeing is more your thing, the well-known towns of Bourton-On-The-Water, Winchcombe and Stow-On-The-Wold are all within 15 minutes drive. The larger towns of Cirencester and Cheltenham are 15 and 10 minutes respectively and great for shopping of all sorts. Burford is under 20 minutes for antiques and charm - or travel further to the dreaming spires of Oxford in 35 minutes or Bath in just over an hour. Roads are normally traffic free and easy.
There are wonderful food shopping opportunities all round, with farmers markets regulars of many of the local towns. Cirencester on the 2nd and 4th Saturday mornings of each month, Bourton the 4th Sunday of each month, Stow on occasional Thursdays and Cheltenham on the 2nd and last Friday of each month. Or just enjoy a bit of celebrity watching at Cirencester Waitrose on a Saturday morning!
The centre of jump racing can be found at Cheltenham racecourse, and Grove Cottage is surrounded by many of the most famous jump jockey stables. To get some tips, just head down to the Hollow Bottom at Guiting Power for a pint.
Grove Cottage is just 90 minutes or less from West London and perfectly located in the centre of the country.

Hi we’ve had a great time despite the weather and the cottage is lovely and a super location.
Would like to mention that some of the sitting room furniture is a bit tired. The larger couch has collapsed in the middle and quite uncomfortable, there is webbing loose underneath which possibly needs replacing- having said that the beds are good and so is the bedding.
Bathrooms are excellent but hot water bath tap is loose and constantly falling into bath with our granddaughter – needs fixing. Needs hand rail on bottom 6 stairs – my husband had some difficulty getting up and down stairs. However he did have a wonderful 80th birthday with the family.
Our family were very impressed and thank you for being attentive.
Thanks for your feedback - all noted.

From the guest book: We have fallen in love with the cottage!! Great few days, lovely comfy beds.
Stayed: 9th Feb 2017
We separated all the rubbish as requested but the previous occupants had put everything into the same bin.
It would have been helpful to know (maybe I missed it) that the cottage had a Sky Box as we could have brought our Sky Card with us.
As it was an exceptionally cold weekend the central heating system couldn’t really cope and so downstairs, in particular, was still very cold in the evenings.
Otherwise, the cottage is reasonably comfortable and we enjoyed our stay.

We will not be in the UK this time next year as we live in New Zealand but I believe my sister will be in touch as she would like to stay at Grove Cottage with her family sometime in the future.
We had a lovely stay at the cottage and it suited our needs as an extended family group perfectly – thank you.

We had an amazing time and loved the cottage. The only things that were a little challenging were;
* the oven & hob, both were inconsistent with heat (it took over a hour to boil a pan of potatoes in kettle boiled water), it may need a service?
* the dishwasher filter was really dirty which we had to thoroughly clean to remove the excess residue from the washed dishes, so we ended up having to wash up the majority of the time, which as you can imagine for meals of 8 people it was a little frustrating.
* not enough teaspoons!
However, the rooms were lovely, clean and spacious. Loved the Christmas tree and holly decorations, we kept our faux tree in the car!! The location was perfect, Christmas Eve carol service at the church was beautiful, we would really love to come next year if the dates are right.
Thanks for your feedback, and glad it worked overall. I think the issues mentioned are now sorted!

Thank you but we won’t be booking again yet for next year.
We were very happy with the cottage – well stocked & very comfortable beds.
The left hand hook in the ensuite bathroom was loose/broken on arrival.

We had a lovely weekend at Grove Cottage thank you and it was well situated for the male members of our party to get to the races at Cheltenham and the ladies were able to go walking straight from the cottage.
We were pleased with the cottage overall, it was very cosy and warm, we did not need to light the fires.
The fact that the main oven did not heat up (we did check the instruction manual), although the grill worked and the little oven was efficient but a little small did not cause us a real problem.
A couple of other minor points, the dishwasher needed salt, we did purchase some and put it in so that it would work efficiently. The large settee in the lounge has a spring sticking up when you sit in the left corner.
There were also a few drips of water coming from the dining room ceiling which we diagnosed as coming from the shower in the double ensuite one morning (We have experienced that here when the seal between shower tray and tiles has come adrift).
Hopefully the owner will not be too offended with these comments, as someone who lets a holiday flat, I take the attitude that if you are not told you cannot put it right.
Thanks for your feedback - the blown element in the oven is now sorted - I'm glad it didn't affect you too much. Springs again on the sofa - replaced! The occasional leak remains an issue - hope to nail it soon!

Thank you – we had a fabulous stay and loved the house. We are sorry we disturbed a wasp nest with the fire though…very unfortunate!! Hope the owner managed to get it sorted.
Thanks again for all your help
