This house is professionally cleaned by the Raintree housekeeping team. For stays of two weeks or more, the house will be cleaned and the bed linen and towels changed weekly

Atmosphere

Stable Cottage is perfectly placed for exploring the surrounding bays or enjoying a quick round of golf on the nearby championship course. The cottage itself is part of an attractive set of barn conversions set within large lawned communal grounds, great for finding a quiet spot to relax. It sleeps 4 in two bedrooms, the upstairs living space benefits from wide reaching distant sea views, while the downstairs bedrooms are simple and cosy. The nearest sand is Harlyn Bay which can be reached along a picturesque footpath that first cuts through woods and fields and then onto the dunes at the back of the beach. A large sweep of white sand - great for a peaceful morning dog walk or an afternoon game of beach cricket. The house is also very close to a selection of other beautiful bays in the area - a quick 5 minute drive from both Booby's and Constantine Bays and not much further to either Trevone or Treyarnon Bay. Stable Cottage has all the right elements needed for a memorable beach holiday.

Sleeping

There are two bedrooms, both on the ground floor, allowing the living space to enjoy the fantastic sea views upstairs. The first bedroom at the foot of the stairs is the master - it features a Super King bed with a window looking out over the pleasant lawned front gardens. It features two bedside tables and built in wardrobes. The second is just across the corridor, a Twin with central bedside table and built in wardrobes - it also features a convenient door out to the back garden.

Bathrooms

There is one bathroom at Stable Cottage. This downstairs bathroom is positioned conveniently next to the two bedrooms with loo, basin and bath with contemporary stainless steel shower over. Simply tiled with modern fixtures and fittings.

Kitchen and Dining

The kitchen forms part of the upstairs open plan living space, with windows that look out over the back garden and patio and out the front across the fields to the sea in the distance. Fitted with U shaped modern kitchen units, electric cooker, microwave, under counter fridge and freezer, it is a practical easy space to cook in and enjoy the views. The dining table can easily seat 6 with additional seating for two at the breakfast bar. Quirky oversized cutlery adorns the walls with a wooden corner cupboard for further useful storage.

Living

The sitting room area is a cosy space separated from the kitchen by the staircase banister, it features a comfy two seater sofa to relax on and two further armchairs. A peaceful area to escape to and watch a film or two. There is a TV and DVD with a selection games and books on the integrated shelves either side of the fireplace.

Facilities

The kitchen features a washer dryer, microwave under counter fridge and freezer. The TV in the sitting room has a DVD player. The house also has Wireless broadband and gas central heating throughout.

Outside

Stable Cottage features large communal lawned areas that stretch out from the front of the house perfect for a kick about or finding a quiet sunny spot to read a book. There is also an additional communal walled picnic/barbecue area which is great for impromptu gatherings. The house also has its own lawned back garden with patio and brick barbecue - it is 'shared' with the cottage next door. A picnic bench just outside the front door also provides a tranquil spot to sit and bask in the sun.

Location

Stable Cottage is ideally situated for a visit to The Pig restaurant and bar. Just a 2 minute stroll round the corner will find you in the grounds of this very special place. With an emphasis on locally grown food, much from their own kitchen garden, this is a must-visit if you are nearby.

The nearest beach is a short 10 minute walk along footpaths to the centre of Harlyn beach, an atmospheric walk through woods and then across fields to the centre of the beach. Constantine and Booby’s bays are also both within a short distance or you can carry on around the coast path in either direction to explore the further sandy bays in either direction. Trevose golf club is on the doorstep with a variety of facilities to enjoy - aside from the golf course there are 3 tennis courts, swimming pool and a restaurant.

Harlyn beach is one of the best family beaches around – very long with plenty of sand even at high tide. The beach car park is at one end of the beach, and many do not make it further than the 1^st half of the beach. From where the footpath ends in steps down to the beach, the beach is absolutely magnificent – with fantastic rock formations and small caves and overhangs to sunbathe and relax. When the sun is out and the air is warm, this end of Harlyn really feels almost tropical.

If you don't want to take a picnic to the beach, food is available at Big Pan; paella, curries, freshly cooked crepes and hot and cold drinks. Head up to the deck on the roof for fabulous sea views with your coffee. Sunset sessions with live music happen every Thursday in July and August. Further up the car park, The Beach Box serves coffee and snacks and the famous Da Bara cinnamon buns. In summer you can also enjoy a cold beer or a cocktail from their Airstream bar.

Alternatively, you can walk down the road in a few minutes to the small bridge, and onto the beach here by the car park. Here you can hire surf boards and book surf lessons. Harlyn is well renowned for surfing – being protected from the prevailing winds and yet still picking up plenty of waves. It’s a perfect place to learn, and you will find that many surf schools do most of their training here.

For shopping, St Merryn is minutes away, or Padstow itself is nearby. Five minutes drive will get you to the supermarket, or down into the town for a selection of boutiques and tempting dining options - from the simple pasty to the more gourmet offerings from Paul Ainsworth or Rick Stein.

We had a fabulous stay at Stable Cottage at Christmas. The decorations were a lovely touch and the Yule log too. The cottage was beautifully clean and lovely to have a decent sofa to lounge on. The beds were also comfortable. The shower gel, handwash and cleaning products have a sense of being pampered. The only negative comment I would make if pushed and being picky would be that the boiler was very noisy. We really did have a great time and wouldn’t hesitate to book again. The service from Raintree House was excellent.
