Key Features
The Property
- Atmosphere
Atlantic Breezes is positioned up the hill leading from the picturesque and often quiet beach at Porthcothan. It occupies an elevated position with superb views down over the headland and out to sea. The rocky outcrops of The Quies can be seen very clearly on the horizon jutting out from the water.
The house is well connected to its large private sunny back garden and panoramic sea views. The views can be enjoyed either through the modern glazing within the house or from the large paved patio and garden outside. The garden features a very attractive large and grassy lawn, well stocked flower beds and mature shrubs.
The house itself has been extended and upgraded and as a result is flooded by natural light, an example of this is in the extension which features dynamic architectural roof lights. The whole house has been furnished with style and care throughout resulting in a clean, crisp and contemporary beach house.
- Sleeping
Atlantic Breezes sleeps 8 in 4 bedrooms, all bedrooms are situated along one easy corridor towards the back of the house and have been simply but cleverly furnished to maximise space. The first bedroom can be found as you enter this corridor to the right and features a king size bed, built in wardrobe and modern bedside tables. A window over the bed allows good natural light with pleasant views across the front garden. The next bedroom is down the corridor to the left, a twin room with a superb view across the lawn and out to sea. It features a chest of drawers, bedside tables and chair. The next room down is the second king room, again with impressive sea views. It features a chair, built in wardrobes and attractive bedside tables. The final bedroom at the end of the corridor has bunk beds, chair and built in wardrobe with views out to the front garden.
- Bathrooms
There are two bathrooms at Atlantic Breezes one near the entrance to the house, which is a smartly tiled wet room with loo, basin and shower. The second can be found off the bedroom corridor and features a basin , loo and bath. Both look very fresh and clean and feature modern fixtures and fittings, both also feature electric under floor heating.
- Kitchen
The kitchen features an ultra modern light blue kitchen which runs the length of the back wall, finished off with a Corian worktop and all Miele appliances. The kitchen is inundated with natural light. A window runs above the kitchen counter all along one wall, while the opposite wall is almost entirely made up of glass. A large set of sliding doors opens out to the patio and provide an easy route to the sunny patio for outdoor dining.
- Living and Dining
The living space is particularly attractive, an open inviting room with one large window running along most of the back wall and further glazing along the side of the room both helping to frame the beautiful views of the garden and coastline. A wood burner provides an additional focal point to gather around, alongside a large, smart, flat screen TV with DVD. There are two stylish three seater sofas that sit next to a leather swivel chair and Scandinavian easy chair. There is also a chaise longue perfect for relaxing on and reading a book whilst enjoying the fire or views. It is also thoughtfully decorated with an attractive sideboard, side tables, feature lamps and original coastal artwork adorns the walls.
- Facilities
There is a utility room off the entrance hall leading to the kitchen, second door on the left. This features a washing machine and houses the gas boiler, which feeds radiators and toasty underfloor heating in the kitchen, hall and utility areas. There is a smart TV in the sitting room for streaming services. There is ample parking for up to 4 cars on the spacious graveled drive with a small area behind the garage dedicated to an outdoor washing line . There is wireless broadband and gas central heating with under floor heating in the kitchen and bathrooms.
- Outside
Atlantic Breezes features well planted gardens with mature shrubs and a well manicured lawn. Gardens surround the house front and back and have been planted with care and with an eye for landscape design. Pretty rosebushes are dotted along the front of the house and mature plants frequent the outdoor areas and well planted beds. As well as the large back lawn, there is also a smaller front garden which is also lawned and is bordered by a gravel path leading to the other entrance door and smaller hallway.
- Nearby
Atlantic Breezes is located near the top of the hill leading up from the beach at Porthcothan. The beach is a short walk down the road but care needs to be taken as there is no pavement and it can get busy in high season. It’s also easy to park down at the beach car park if preferred, or use it to drop off kids and equipment. The beach is a fantastic stretch of sand particularly at low tide
Porthcothan Stores supplies papers, milk and bread in season and is located on the path from the road through to the beach. Up the hill on the other side (Padstow-side) is the Tredrea pub, providing refreshment and reliable pub food, with amazing views down over the bay from its large terrace.
The beach at Porthcothan is particularly special. At low tide, the beach opens out with huge rock pillars, caves and pools. It is great to explore. It is also very good for swimming and surfing. Around the south headland, can be found the Trescore Islands, wonderful for swimming in the shallow lagoon and more like the Med in good weather. Good walking can be found further south, towards the fascinating rocky inlet of Porthmear and on to Bedruthan Steps and Mawgan Porth. To the north, the walk along the headland to Treyarnon is particularly beautiful.
Newquay Airport is only 10 minutes away, as is Emily Scott’s restaurant at Watergate Bay. Padstow is nearby for shopping and dining, only 10 minutes by car to the north.

We had such a great time. Never known the sun to shine in Cornwall for two solid weeks. In fact, I doubt it ever has!! Thanks for all your help. There is not a single thing that could have improved the visit. Maybe no pandemic, but next time that hopefully won’t be part of the equation!

We had a fabulous stay at Atlantic Breezes; a great house with brillant location and we couldn’t have wished for a better house to have our week away from it all to be in.

It is a lovely place in a great area. We bought some table tennis balls this year as it seemed most of last years had gone. Great to be able to play and have music.
