Key Features
Pendarves is a superb beach house, in an enviable raised up position just a stone’s throw from Porthcothan Bay and the surrounding coastline. The paved terrace is on 2 levels at the front, great for entertaining and soaking up the sun and the decked terrace and lawn to the rear provide a more sheltered space for family dining. There is furniture at the front and back and a sea view from the front terrace. Sliding doors lead out from the living space, really opening the house up to the sea air. Once inside it has a simple contemporary beach style and the layout flows really well throughout the house.
The kitchen/dining and living areas are spacious and ideal for family get togethers although there is enough space to find a quiet spot if needed.
Underneath the house is a play room complete with table tennis table so plenty of room for the kids to enjoy themselves.
Sleeping
There are four bedrooms at Pendarves, two on the ground floor and two on the first floor. The first is a twin situated next to the family bathroom on the ground floor. It is furnished with attractive ‘distressed’ wood furniture. There are two chests of drawers and wardrobe here and a flat screen TV to link up to the sky Q or PlayStation. The other room on the ground floor is spacious with a king size bed and attractive painted wooden wardrobe, chest of drawers, bedside cabinets and another large flat screen TV.
The two further bedrooms are on the first floor under the eaves – a triple to the left of the staircase with a double bed and an optional single bed and a hugely spacious bedroom to the right with a king sized bed. Both bedrooms have very well appointed ensuite bathrooms with spacious walk in showers and heated towel rails. The contemporary style continues upstairs with neutral colours and painted furniture with plenty of storage in both bedrooms and another TV in the largest room.
Bathrooms
On the ground floor there is a well-appointed family bathroom with basin, loo, bath and hand held shower over the bath, it’s a spacious modern bathroom with wooden panelling on the walls and beach themed decor. The first floor ensuite bathrooms have loos, basins, heated towel rails and large walk in showers. They are both tiled in attractive tiles in muted shades and natural light floods in from the skylights above the showers. There is also a very useful shower room under the house with a powerful shower and space to hang the wetsuits. Perfect for showering off after a busy day on the beach.
Kitchen/Dining/Living
The large kitchen dining area with doors leading out on to the back terrace is perfect for family gatherings. The kitchen is modern with plenty of light flooding in through the windows. The Belfast sink, wooden worktops and pale blue units continue the beach style seen in the rest of the house. There is wooden bench seating around the matching table in the dining area with enough room to seat everyone and a comfy leather sofa for relaxing.
Round the corner and down a few stairs is the spacious living room with doors heading straight on to the front balcony. There large pale blue sofas here with plenty of room for everyone to relax and watch a movie on the 55 inch curved flat screen TV.
Facilities
Underneath the house is a multi-functional room with bean bags and a table Tennis table – perfect for the kids to hang out in. Also in this room you can find the tumble dryer. Just off here is a fantastic shower room and toilet.
Outside
Pendarves has a spectacular elevated paved terrace area on two levels at the front, one for the adults and one for the kids. The top paved terrace has good quality comfortable ratten furniture perfect to sit and soak up the evening sun and enjoy a gin and tonic. At the back of the house is a decked terrace with sunny lawned garden beyond. The upper section of the lawn enjoys views down over the nearby coastline and the lower terrace has enough garden furniture to sit and enjoy a meal outside.
There is ample parking for 2-3 cars in the driveway.
Nearby
Pendarves is located just a 2 minute stroll from the beach at Porthcothan so no need to worry about driving to the beach whilst here.
The beach at Porthcothan is particularly special. At low tide, the beach opens out with huge rock pillars, caves and pools. It is great to explore. It is also very good for swimming and surfing. Around the south headland, can be found the Trescore Islands, wonderful for swimming in the shallow lagoon and more like the Med in good weather. Good walking can be found further south, towards the fascinating rocky inlet of Porthmear and on to Bedruthan Steps and Mawgan Porth. To the north, the walk along the headland to Treyarnon is particularly beautiful.
Porthcothan Stores supplies papers, milk and bread and is located on the path from the road through to the beach.
Newquay Airport is only 10 minutes away and Padstow is nearby for shopping and dining, only 10 minutes by car to the north.

Just wanted to thank you so much for the warm welcome we received during our stay, namely the flowers, champagne and the birthday card for my rather ‘special’ birthday. It was all very much appreciated and our whole family had a most wonderful and memorable week at your property.

We had at fabulous stay at Pendarves last week and would love to re-book for the same week next year please. As with other Raintree properties we have stayed in previously, we found Pendarves to be well equipped, beautifully styled and cleaned well, ready for our stay. There were a couple of maintenance issues that the caretaker had identified just ahead of our arrival and these were dealt with swiftly and efficiently by the team.

Our holiday was fabulous. Peter replied to queries so quickly – we were really impressed. The house was perfect – cleaned really well, lovely decor, high spec and wonderful location. We particularly liked the garage with its shower!
Thank you again to all those working for Raintree in these hard times.
