Key Features
The Property
- Atmosphere
High Tides has been beautifully renovated and furnished, as you will immediately appreciate on your arrival. It's a modern white washed house, that has been completely refurbished and re-modelled by it's interior designer owner. The atmosphere throughout is spacious and light - and luxuriously comfortable! The re-design has provided new bathrooms and new in-built storage, all cleverly designed to provide a level of privacy for all.
You will enjoy the large conservatory - not too hot, not too cold - and the 'so comfortable' sitting room, all providing different spaces for members of your group to relax and enjoy their stay. The house is furnished in modern greys and muted colours, while the floors are a mixture of stripped wood, stone tiles and warming carpets. Heavy timber doors and attractive light fittings ensure you feel pampered throughout. The kitchen/dining room provides the large and natural hub of the house while the spacious nature is maintained out onto the large and private decking area at the back. High Tides provides the perfect location for fun, activity, warmth, comfort and relaxation.
- Sleeping and Bathrooms
High Tides has 5 good-sized and well appointed bedrooms. Upstairs, the master bedroom looks out over the garden and fields behind and is furnished with a comfortable and high quality king-sized bed. There are 2 wooden lamps on either side of the bed and a large fitted wardrobe provides plenty of hanging and shelf space. There is a chest of drawers too. The room is carpeted and has an attractive blue fabric headboard to set off the understated and stylish decoration throughout. There is an ensuite shower room off the master - with powerful shower, loo, basin and heated towel rail.
Across the landing is the twin room. Again elegantly furnished with high quality single beds and matching blue headboards, in-built wardrobe and smart black bedside lamps. Light fills the room from the large window over the front garden and quiet no-through road beyond. The en-suite is particularly glossy here - with black slate tiles dominating the large shower cubicle, and finished off with a modern loo, basin and heated towel rail.
There are 2 more bedrooms upstairs - on either side of the landing each with a bunk bed, chest of drawers and peg rail with pretty hangers, and smart roller blinds. The first, opposite the top of the stairs, has great views out over the fields and the footpath to Padstow Farmshop - really quite a special view - while the 2nd bunk bed room looks out over the front garden and the lane beyond.
The 5th bedroom is downstairs and is a good-sized room with a King size bed, large roller blind, nice bedside tables and bedside lamps. It is a great 2nd master bedroom for the house.
Downstairs also, and just near this double, is the large walk-in wet room, with huge and powerful shower. Its perfect as the best shower in the house, but also to cater for sandy and bedraggled surfers from the beach, who can come round the back of the house, leaving surfboards and wetsuits on the decking, before slipping through the back door and into this shower! Perfect!
Upstairs, as well as the 2 en-suite shower rooms, there is a good sized family bathroom, with bath with proper shower over and a proper, solid shower screen, loo, basin and towel rail. Downstairs at the bottom of the stairs, is a separate cloakroom
- Kitchen and Dining
The kitchen and dining room provide the central focus of the house. The kitchen is dominated by the triple window looking out over the decking, rear garden and fields behind and has a fully-fitted modern kitchen with plenty of worktop and low-level units to make cooking simple. There is a stainless steel single sink with integrated drainer, and, forming the pier between the kitchen and the dining room, there is a large Rangemaster professional gas range - providing 5 gas burners, a warming plate, 2 ovens and a separate grill - perfect for large family suppers or cooked breakfasts!
The worktop runs round towards the utility as well and this is where you will find extra appliances: microwave, kettle, expresso machine. There is also a small table against the wall and 2 chairs - ideal for chatting to the chef, or making an important list!
The dining room is also an integral part of this room with the stone tiles of the kitchen giving way to the stripped floors of the dining room. A long and elegant dining table easily seats 10, surrounded by stylish and modern seats - all set off by well chosen art and lighting. From here large sliding doors, with floor-to-ceiling heavy curtains, lead out into the conservatory.
- Living, inside and out
The conservatory has been very well furnished to make the best of the light and situation. The furniture is good quality and sturdy wicker - there are 3 small wicker sofas and a wicker armchair. The lighting is also perfect for an evening - with side lamps and tripod standard lamps to create just the atmosphere you are looking for. The aspect of the conservatory ensures it does not get too hot - its very usable all year round. Double French doors lead out onto a large decking area, with table and chairs. It's a warm and sheltered spot for lunch or an evening meal outside.
The main sitting room is off the hall - a well proportioned room, furnished with lovely sofas and armchairs, blue/grey decoration and striped curtains. A black coffee table fills the centre of the room, and the focus is towards the flat screen TV mounted above the gas fire - simple and effective. It's a good room to get away perhaps - for a bit of quiet time away from the open-plan fun of the rest of the house. There is also an IPod dock here.
- Facilities
High Tides is really well equipped. Gas central heating throughout, along with a large and efficient hot water cylinder. There is of course wireless broadband, 2 flat screen TVs,and an IPod dock. There is a large 50:50 fridge/freezer in the utility room, as well as a washing machine, tumble dryer and a 'sheila maid' dryer. There is a dishwasher in the kitchen.
Outside
High Tides has private parking for 3-4 cars off the lane as well as a small area of garden at the front of the house. At the back, there is the large conservatory with big French doors - giving a great sense of outdoor living when the weather is not quite 'playing ball' and a large decking area with BBQ and table and chairs for 10, for when it is. It's a good sheltered spot. There is also a lawned area surrounded by shrubs and flower beds - it's large enough to kick around a football or for an impromptu game of cricket.
Nearby
High Tides is located on a quiet no-through lane in Trevone. For those who know Trevone, The Close is a right hand turning off the beach road, just after the 'kink' in the road and just before the final run down to the beach.
It’s an easy walk down to the sea for all ages, and perfectly close enough to nip home for lunch or for a forgotten book! Alongside the main sandy beach, is the rather wonderful Newtrain beach with its rock pools and natural swimming pool. There are deserted beaches a little further along and then it is just a short walk on to Harlyn Bay. Heading the other way, you can walk to Padstow - quite a long 2 hours + via the coast path, or a shorter walk cutting across the headland. On the headland/coast path, you will pass the large blow-hole above Trevone, and can walk on a further 10-15 minutes to possibly spy the 'smugglers passage' - take care! Walking is wonderful in both directions along the coast path.
The beach shop is well equipped for surfboard and wetsuit rental and perfect for a morning coffee while you read the papers. You can enjoy simple café food at lunch or into most evenings in season, either inside or on the terrace at the back of the beach. Trevone Farmshop is a short walk back up the beach road – good for papers and daily fresh bread. The Well Parc pub is also nearby - good for drinks, a game of pool, and a fantastic view over the beaches.
The Padstow Farm Shop is a very quick drive on the back road to Padstow. Or it's a simple and fun 15 minute walk across the fields behind High Tides - you can see the path and occasional passers by from the garden and windows of the house. There are great local vegetables sold here, eggs from Jane the farmer herself if you’re lucky, and a full butchers shop with great quality meat at 'not too expensive' prices.
Padstow is only 5 minutes’ drive away, with shopping, boat trips and superb eateries. Rick Stein's restaurants are always worth booking, while Jamie Oliver is only 15 minutes’ drive to Watergate Bay. The airport at Newquay is 15 minutes.

We had a great time at High Tides and will very likely return next year.
It was really nice to have milk and cake on our arrival. The rain was sheeting down and after a long drive we were feeling a little dispirited. The cake was most welcome.
We had a lovely holiday and look forward to returning next year.

We were unable to open the padlock for the shed, as we would have liked to have used the parasol.
We have been very pleased and impressed by the standard of the accommodation and all the equipment available. We have been extremely comfortable. Thank you.
Raintree Says:
Thank you for letting us know that you could not access the shed. We are now replacing the padlock.
