Key Features
- Atmosphere
Torridon is a contemporary and luxury retreat by the coast. Lavish furnishings, deep colours and a contemporary design ensure a stay at Torridon will be a holiday to remember.
Set just back from the coastal path this striking home is in an enviable location. Quietly tucked away on a no-through road, the house is just a short stroll from the village and both Trevone beaches. Torridon can sleep 10 guests and has an upside down arrangement to take full advantage of the views across open farmland and out to sea towards Trevose Head.
- Sleeping
Torridon will sleep 10 guests in five bedrooms, with all but one bedroom on the ground floor. The first bedroom is on the left as you enter the house and is decorated in shades of dusky pink and green. This room has a built in wardrobe and a chest of drawers. Along the corridor and the other side of the staircase is a spacious twin room with handy French windows leading out onto the terrace. Furnished with simple white wooden beds and vibrant spring green panelled walls this is a lovely bright and fresh room. Along the corridor on the right is the first of two superking ensuite bedrooms. Looking out over the front garden, this bedroom is light and spacious and benefits from its own ensuite shower room. Opposite this room is the family bathroom. At the end of the corridor is the master room. Painted in deep olive green with dusky pink accents and an indulgent king size bed, this room truly is a cosy retreat for rest and relaxation. French windows open out onto the terrace, perfect for that early morning coffee in the Cornish sunshine. The final bedroom is upstairs. This is a cosy king-size ensuite room which looks out to the front of the house. There’s also a useful dressing table-cum-desk in this room for when needs must!
- Bathrooms
Torridon has three ensuite bathrooms – two downstairs and one upstairs, a family bathroom on the ground floor and a further cloakroom off the living area upstairs. Each bathroom has its own individual style and all have a quality finish.
- Kitchen, living and dining
The upstairs living areas are without a doubt where Torridon really shines. The first living area features some vibrant original artwork, a cosy corner sofa in plush velvet and a large flat screen TV. With views over the fields behind, this is a great room for relaxing after a hard day at the beach. Next to this living area is the kitchen. With bright yellow units echoing the Cornish sun, it is fitted with a full size dishwasher, range oven, fridge and freezer. The glass topped dining table sits in front of French windows that open up onto a Juliet balcony to take full advantage of the view. Leading on from the kitchen is the grown up living room. A huge corner sofa provides a comfy place to relax. Natural light floods in through the two skylights and French windows open up onto a decked balcony where you’ll find some smart outdoor furniture – ideal for an evening glass of wine while watching the sun go down over the horizon.
- Facilities
There is a downstairs utility room fully kitted out with a sink, a second dishwasher to save carrying dirty barbeque dishes upstairs, extra fridge and freezer space, a small microwave plus a washing machine and tumble dryer. There is ample parking for two or three cars on the driveway to the front of the house. Torridon is centrally heated throughout with underfloor heating downstairs. There is superfast Wi-Fi throughout the house.
- Outside
The garden at Torridon has been well thought out with relaxation and outdoor eating in mind. On the terrace, which extends the length of the house, a large outdoor table and chairs is the perfect place to enjoy an alfresco supper. The master bedroom benefits from its own terrace, neatly screened from the rest and has two sun loungers for lazy sunny days. Flower borders add interest and colour. The same planting extends to the front of the house where bench seating provides an alternative spot to sit.
- Nearby
Torridon is just minutes from the beach. Turn left out of the drive and walk up the bumpy lane and you’ll be right in the heart of the action. The sandy beach is very popular with lots of little nooks and crannies for sunbathing and picnicking. Or in the other direction, Newtrain beach – the rocky part of Trevone – is great for rock pooling, paddling and dogs can run free here all year round. A little bit further on and there is a large natural swimming pool in the rocks, accessible at low tide and known locally as Bunny Tinker’s pool. For shopping, the beach/surf shop is good for supplies as well as ice creams, coffee and light meals. Further back in the village, the farm shop is a great place to stock up on local produce and crafts.

We enjoyed everything about the house, near the beach but still very quiet. The layout was perfect with good views down to Trevose head. The children loved it all.

We had a fantastic holiday at Torridon and be accommodation was brilliant for us. The internet seemed to cease working after a couple of days and did not improve after turning the router off and on. It would be beneficial to have more reliable internet but understand that this is sometimes difficult to achieve
Raintree Says:
Thank you for your feedback about the internet. We had a problem with the phone line which I'm sure was the reason. BT have now resolved the issue!

We had a great holiday at Torridon.
The house was everything you could possibly want from a seaside house –
The layout of the house was ideal with the living area and self contained grandparent accomodation on the first floor seperated from the bedlam downstairs – and the views of the countryside and coast were magnificent.
The house was excellently kitted out with everything you could need and high quality beds, bed linens and towels.
The simple lawned gardens are ideal for rampaging children and safely tucked away from any traffic.
Any contact we had with Raintree staff showed them to be very pleasant and helpful.
