The Property

Atmosphere

Occupying a prime spot just back from the beach at Trevone, Tristan is a bright, airy family-friendly home with stunning sea views and a laid back beach vibe. Light filled spaces, seaside hues and natural wood combine effortlessly to offer stylish and comfortable coastal living. Maritime themed art adorns the walls, echoing Tristan’s seaside location. Tristan has everything you need to stay put for a week, but if you want to venture out to explore more of Cornwall, the house is perfectly placed for coastal walks, or if you prefer to go out for the day, Padstow, Newquay and Wadebridge are all within a short drive.

Living, dining and cooking.

The kitchen is designed with families and socialising in mind. There’s plenty of workspace to rustle up a delicious meal and the French doors leading out to the garden where there is a teak table seating 10, make alfresco dining easy. The kitchen is ready with all you need to make self-catering on holiday easy; including a double oven, hob and dishwasher. A dining table at one end offers space for a casual breakfast or lunch, while a further dining table at the other end can be dressed up for more formal suppers, or kept simple for lazy family gatherings.

Once you’ve eaten, head upstairs to the first floor sitting room which is dominated by a huge picture window with views out to sea. Long, comfy sofas provide a place to wind down, chat,  relax and perhaps play one of the large number of board games available. You’ll also find a pool table here for some friendly holiday competition. French windows lead onto the balcony – the perfect spot to sit and chat on the teak day beds, whilst watching the sun set in the distance or perhaps spot surfers on the beach with the binoculars.

Further entertainment can be found on the mezzanine level, where a large, very squishy corner sofa is centred around the impressive wall mounted TV, making this the ideal cinema room for cosy movie nights or for children and teenagers to relax away from the adults.

Bedrooms and bathrooms

Tristan has 4 spacious bedrooms, all with super-comfy Hypnos beds and mattresses. All have soft furnishings in muted blues and grey with tactile, soft cushions making Tristan’s bedrooms  calm and inviting spaces to wind down at the end of the day. Solid wood furniture provides storage for holiday clothes. The master is on the ground floor and has a superking bed. French windows look out to the front terrace and can be slid back to let the morning air in. The ensuite has a walk-in shower and double basins, loo and bidet. The remaining bedrooms are on the first floor. The second and third bedrooms are both set up as twins with 2’6” beds but can be made up as king size beds if preferred. The final king size bedroom is at the rear of the house, overlooking the garden and has an ensuite shower room.

Located between the third and fourth bedrooms, the family bathroom is spacious and has a bath and separate walk in shower cubicle.

Facilities

A convenient utility room has direct access to the garden and is equipped with a washing machine and tumble dryer. Tristan is centrally heated throughout ensuring this is a cosy home year round.  Wireless, high speed fibre broadband is available throughout the property. There’s plenty of parking for three cars on the driveway.

Outside

The outside space at Tristan is a real treat and is largely laid to lawn.  With four adjustable solid teak sun loungers, and two reclining teak chairs, there are plenty of opportunities to seek out a quiet or shady spot to read or relax amongst the mature shrubs and plants.  There is also a useful hot water outside shower for washing people and wetsuits after a day on the beach, along with a spray head on a hose for washing your dogs after their sandy or muddy adventures!

Nearby

A short walk away from Tristan, Trevone Bay Surf Store is right on the beach and offers surfboard, kayak, paddle board and wetsuit hire, as well as delicious ice creams and a good variety of beach goods and clothes. There is also a café here serving good coffee, cakes and light meals during the day and is also now open for dinner in the evenings.  Their attached bar, Bruno’s, regularly hosts live bands and musicians throughout the summer, making for unforgettable nights.

A short walk up the hill, Trevone Farm Shop which is open daily, stocks a wide range of goods including some delicious prepared meals, fresh bread and pastries as well as other locally made goods. For a wider selection, Padstow Farm Shop is within walking or a short driving distance, and has an excellent range of in house prepared meat for the BBQ, top quality meat and vegetables, amongst other local goodies!

Trevone beach, which is less than a 2 minute walk away, is ideal for building sandcastles and dams, playing in the waves or practising your surfing, and is RNLI lifeguarded from 15th May to 29th September.  Newtrain beach (the rocky one!), a little further along to the west is a fantastic spot for rock pooling and collecting shells—be sure to visit at low tide using the framed tide timetable in the hallway. For adventure seekers, the coastline provides ample opportunities for coasteering and kayaking. Trevone Bay Adventures comes highly recommended for expert-led excursions; visit www.trevonebayadventures.co.uk to learn more. Don’t miss Tinker Bunny’s Bathing Pool, a seawater pool made famous in the recent BBC adaptation of Enid Blyton’s Malory Towers. It’s a must-visit for families, offering safe jumping spots and fun for kids. Just be cautious on the route down, as the rocks can be slippery. Search for "Tinker Bunny’s Bathing Pool" on Facebook for more details.

Explore the coast path in either direction - round the heading past Hawker's Cove to Padstow, or south to Harlyn, Trevose Head and beyond. Dogs can run free on Newtrain beach all year round, and are welcomed on Trevone beach out of season (1st October – 14th May).

Fantastic house and perfect for our family. My 86 year old mum was also able to join us and loved the short walk to the beach and views from the balcony. The snug was her domain as she could have some peace but still feel part of things as people passed through.
