  • Atmosphere

Westwinds was built in the 1930s and has been maintained and refurbished sensitively. It retains its original character, but is smart and well presented throughout. Perfect both in and out of season, with gas central heating and an open fire.

  • Sleeping

There are 3 bedrooms at Westwinds, 1 king ensuite, 1 king and 1 twin.

The main bedroom is on the 1st floor, an amazing conversion of the attic. It is furnished with a king size wooden sleigh bed, bedside tables, small flat screen television and a chest of drawers with hanging space around a corner hidden from view. The small but smart en-suite bathroom has a bath, basin and loo and is decorated and tiled in cream. The bedroom has fantastic views up the valley and across the fields through fabulously large velux windows which also open to provide a balcony overlooking the private back garden.

Downstairs is a 2nd double bedroom with a king size bed, a range of drawers and a wardrobe. Next door is a twin bedroom, hand basin and a shaver point. Windows open out onto the back garden. Both bedrooms downstairs are neat, comfortable and well presented.

  • Bathrooms

The main family bathroom is on the ground floor. Tiled in white, with combined bath and modern shower and screen. The ensuite upstairs provides a 2nd bathroom.

  • Living

The sitting room is a double aspect sitting room with two smart leather sofas and a television. A very sunny room in the late afternoon and evening.

  • Kitchen and Dining

There is a wonderful traditional feel from the separate kitchen and dining/breakfast room. The kitchen is smart, clean and well equipped, with a walk-in larder, stone tile floor, one and half steel sink and modern units. The dining room opens out from the kitchen, providing relaxed eating for 6. Stripped wood floorboards, extending throughout the large hall, give a comfortable, warm feel. From the dining room, views extend over the private rear garden.

  • Heating and water

Modern gas central heating ensures warmth and plenty of hot water at any time of the year.

  • Facilities

A washing machine is provided in the boiler room adjacent to the kitchen. There is a washing line outside and a tumble dryer provided in the garage. Wireless broadband is available at Westwinds.

  • Outside

The front garden has flower beds and a large area of flat lawn to enjoy. But the rear garden is where most time will be spent. Private and secure, the large lawned area is perfect for sunbathing and relaxing, as well as playing ball games. Or sit outside to eat your breakfast, lunch or supper!

  • Nearby

Trevone’s beaches and all its facilities are within easy reach of Westwinds. The headland between Trevone and Padstow is dominant on the skyline to the north – but follow Homer Park Road across to join the main beach road. The beach is minutes away.

The sandy beach is popular with many nooks and crannies to sunbathe, as well as a broad expanse of sand for playing games. The bathing is safe and protected, but also good for surfing, particularly for beginners. Surfboards can be bought or rented at the beach shop.

Right alongside the sandy beach is Newtrain beach, also known as the rocky beach. Great for exploring, rock pooling, and for protected swimming in the natural swimming pool. Newtrain allows dogs all year round. The two contrasting beaches provide great fun for children and adults alike! The beaches can be walked to in less about 5 minutes along the lane.

For shopping, Trevone has a good beach and surf shop, as well as the Madrips café for ice creams, coffee, pizza and other light meals. The village shop further back from the beach is open 7 days, with quality bread and pasties, as well as other staple supplies. The Well Parc provides an opportunity for lunchtime or evening drinks, and is accessible by footpath and lane from all over Trevone. The village has a great sense of community, one of which guests immediately feel a part.

Padstow is less than 5 minutes by car, with its historic harbour, special and individual shops and boutiques, as well as a huge range of restaurants and cafes, led of course by Rick Stein’s Seafood restaurant, bistro, café, and wonderful ‘fish and chip’ shop. Padstow Farm Shop, just outside Padstow itself, is great for local meat and vegetables and can be accessed by the ‘back lane’ out of Trevone – by car or by foot. Seafood can be bought from the atmospheric quay at Padstow.

The coast path is easily accessed – and walking is fantastic in both directions: to Padstow in under an hour, or across to Harlyn and Trevose Head.

Everything about the house was perfect – thank you.  What a wonderful house! Especially the top room. Wow!

We’ve had a lovely stay in Trevone, fourth year in a row and first at Westwinds. Lovely house, fully stocked with everything we needed. Perfectly located, minutes to the beach. My girls loved the books and games that were left. We all has a few games of Monopoly. They also loved the garden and with one rainy day we made full use of it. We will definitely be back to Westwinds.

Thanks, we had a brilliant time at Westwinds and loved Trevone bay.  The house was really well equipped and was the perfect place for our extended family to relax and enjoy some time together.

Very Good service from Raintree

Bungalow is in a lovely position, is very quiet and convenient for the beach.  Very nice kitchen, bathroom and shower and dining and lounge area

We did have problems with a plague of moths so we used a lot of fly killer.

The door locks front and rear need a bit of attention as do the internal door catches (maybe a bit of WD40).

 These are minor niggles though.

The outside drain that takes the washing machine outlet is blocked.

Raintree Says:

Thank you for your feedback!

Unfortunately there are quite a few moths around at this time of year, we will ask the owner to provide more insect repellent and also give the door some attention with WD40.

Thank you for letting us know about the drain this has now been unblocked

Thank you for your email and for a very happy and comfortable weekend at Westwinds. We were very pleased with the lovely linen and the well-equipped kitchen and dining room. Thank you also for the delicious welcoming cake, which we leapt upon, such a lovely touch. Sadly we won’t be rolling a booking over to next year as our next stretch of coastal path is from Newquay westwards. But it was a lovely house and you never know, maybe I will return with husband and dogs for a holiday week sometime.

Many thanks for an excellent house.

Location, facilities, house layout, outside area and parking were the best we have experienced following many years of renting in Padstow.

All in the party thoroughly enjoyed
