Key Features
- Atmosphere
Aquataine Annexe is an attractive, contemporary house that sits neatly to one side of Aquataine Lodge. It's placed in a privileged position at the top of a private road with enviable views down over the beach at Treyarnon. It enjoys its own private plot fenced off from the Lodge with a large hard surfaced front terrace and first floor balcony. The balcony is a superb, relaxing spot to sit and enjoy the sights and sounds of the sea.
It sleeps up to 4, 2 in the one bedroom with a further two possible on a sofa bed tucked away in a corner of the living space. It has an upside down arrangement with a spacious open plan sitting room on the first floor which really helps to make the most of the sea views. It can be booked with or without the Lodge and works well for either purpose. It is the perfect house for couples, young families or friends looking for a convenient base to explore the area or to add extra space when booked with the Lodge. The coastal path, YHA café and the beach at Treyarnon are all within a few minute’s walk. The Annexe is the perfect place to dip in and out of beach life.
- Sleeping
The super king bedroom is a decent size with double aspect windows, one uniquely cut half into the roof and wall. It features contemporary style bedside furniture with two bedside tables and chest of drawers. It can optionally be made as twin single beds if preferred – let us know. The second bed is a sofa bed which is tucked away in the corner of the large living space allowing a little extra privacy when the bed is made up. The sofa bed is most appropriate for 1 or 2 children, although could be used by a couple if required. There is also a comfortable separate sofa to use for everyday use.
- Bathrooms
There is one bathroom at the Annexe, fitted out with modern fixtures and fittings, and a useful additional cloakroom located at the bottom of the stairs with toilet and basin. The main family bathroom is upstairs off the living space and features a large freestanding bathtub, modern corner shower, loo and basin. The free-standing bathtub is ideally positioned to enjoy the pleasant views across the farmland out the back of the house. Both rooms are simply decorated with calming white tiles and grey slate floors.
- Kitchen and dining
The kitchen is a convenient space greeting you immediately as you come in through the front door. The kitchen incorporates attractive wooden freestanding units, some stainless steel worktops, a tall fridge freezer, a microwave, radio, and a dining table with seating for 4. The room is bright and attractive, with quarry tiled floor, and an enamel one and a half sink unit. It is a good place to spend time – particularly in warmer months with the front door open. It has picturesque views out the back of the house across farmland. The washer/dryer is located in a small room off the hall, while narrow French doors also lead out of the back of the house to the narrow area behind the house. This small terraced area is very sunny in the morning – perfect for breakfast out or a cup of coffee in seclusion.
- Living
The living space at the Annexe is where you will spend most of your time. It features a modern wood burner, sofa , armchair and beanbag with the sofa bed tucked away in the corner. The room makes the most of the views with the balcony carved into the corner of the room, with windows front and back. Some of the windows are cut into the wall and up into the roof line, creating a great feeling of natural light, and all feature evocative views of either the sea or rolling fields out the back. Both the family bathroom and super king bedroom are located directly off the living space , as is the balcony which is accessed through glass French doors.
- Facilities
The Annexe benefits from central heating along with a large feature wood burner in the upstairs sitting room. There is standard wireless broadband and a large flat screen TV with DVD player in the upstairs sitting room also. It has washer/dryer, dishwasher and microwave.
- Outside Space
The Annexe has a spacious paved area directly out the front of the house great for outdoor dining. There is also a cosy balcony with superb views down to the beach, great to sit out on and enjoy the familiar sounds of beach activity drifting up from below you. Behind the house, is another narrow paved area with a small table – lovely in the morning sun and then finally there is a small fenced off lawn area which can also be used by the house.
The front paved area is also big enough to park two cars.
- Nearby
One of Cornwall’s best beaches is just down the private road. You can enjoy its large sweep of sand, wonderful rocks for climbing and pooling, or unbeatable headland walking both north and south. There is also Treyarnon natural swimming pool carved into the rocks below the headland on Aquataine’s side of the bay. Surfing is also good at Treyarnon – receiving plenty of waves, but a little more manageable than some of the most exposed beaches. Mid to high tide is best. Lifeguards are in place at Treyarnon, May through September.
For a change, you can walk to Constantine Bay in less than 10 minutes across the flat and easy headland. Its fine even for children in pushchairs – and even if carrying your beach gear and picnic!
For local shopping, Treyarnon Bay Stores in the beach car park can be very useful. For all manner of provisions and essentials, as well as your daily milk, bread and newspaper, it’s perfect. For a larger choice, you can walk to Constantine Bay Stores in about 15 minutes. Here you will find a range of quality food that may allow you to really avoid driving all week. Next door is Des’ surf shop for all manner of surf gear, to buy or rent.
Locally, the Youth Hostel past the beach on the right is open to non-residents at different times of the day – for drinks, coffee and snacks. It has improved its range, and really is pretty good now for a light lunch or evening drinks in a fantastic setting and with wonderful views.
Beach barbecues are a regular feature of warm evenings at Treyarnon and we would encourage guests to really take advantage and leave the cars parked up for most of your stay!

We really appreciated the welcome items, especially the bottle if fizz, which was a lovely surprise. The builders in The Lodge were very considerate and we enjoyed meeting the owner’s daughter. We did some lovely walks and enjoyed the ease of access to the beach. The weather was not great but we had come prepared for that, this being the wettest spring on record! The housekeeping staff were very helpful and the house was super clean, warm and cosy. We are always sorry to leave and look forward to our next visit.
Thank you to all the Raintree team once again.

We really liked Aquataine Annexe. It was warm, comfortable and such a great location! Thank you to both the admin and the housekeeping teams for such a prompt resolving of the forgotten logs. Really impressive.

The house and location were ideal. The house was comfortable, practical and well equipped (need a larger kitchen knife), adjoining guests accommodation quiet and courteous. Holiday was a mix of beach/boarding and visiting places; kids loved it.

We really enjoyed our stay in the Aquitaine Annexe. My wife was overjoyed to find a cake waiting for us in the kitchen. The property has been beautifully furnished and we loved being so close to the beach.
Thanks for such a beautiful holiday property and for making everything run so smoothly. Please pass on our appreciation to those who own/manage the accommodation. We loved staying at Aquitaine Annexe and are very grateful for how smoothly everything went.

The house had many good points – including the underfloor heating, the views from upstairs.
The tea and cake on arrival is a nice touch.
The house was very clean and looked fresh and pleasant.

We had the most fantastic stay at the most wonderful place. The Annexe was simply brilliant for us and everything was wonderful. The breakfast materials were of an incredible quality, the log fire superb and the views great.

Firstly can I say how lovely it was to find a cake and milk and tea bags. Thank you!
We loved the light airy feel of Aquataine Annexe and with the sea view and the view of the fields at the back too. It was really a lovely place to stay and very well equipped. The bedding was lovely as were the towels – it was a great place to stay for two people and didn’t even feel too squashed when there was four of us over the weekend! The upstairs was such a lovely space – we were really sad to leave and would be very happy to return again.
Another bonus was having the changeover day on a Tuesday – this made travelling to and from Oxfordshire a pleasant experience rather than an ordeal of traffic jams!!

Excellent holiday spent in a lovely apartment. Couldn’t fault our accommodation (apart from the dodgy plastic chairs on the balcony) minor gripe.
Raintree Says:
Thank you for your feedback, we have now replaced the plastic furniture on the balcony.
