The Property

  • Atmosphere

This rather special house, built in 1992 and extended in 2019, standing on the south or Trethias side of Treyarnon Bay. It is an original design and the white washed walls compliment the interior, which is light and airy, affording wonderful views out to sea. Originally closed on the ‘sea side’, it has been opened up with a decking terrace facing the sea, and a ‘Velux’ balcony upstairs. Anyone visiting will see what a special property this is and how it has been furnished without compromise. If you get a week at Morvoren, hold on to it!

Morvoren has Solar PV (Photovoltaic) panels discretely fitted to the roof at the rear, providing free and clean electricity to the house during your stay.

  • Sleeping

Off the hallway lie the two ground floor bedrooms. One bedroom has a king-sized double bed with a en-suite bathroom. There is also a large fitted wardrobe with further drawer space and chest of drawers. The other bedroom has twin beds, a fitted wardrobe with further drawer space, and a chest of drawers. This room also has a small wall mounted smart television with a built in DVD player. Both bedrooms look out over the beach. The main shower room is conveniently located in the hall outside these bedrooms.

Upstairs for the master bedroom which has a super king-sized bed, is very comfortably furnished and has fabulous views across the Atlantic or up the valley. The window can be opened to provide a small balcony with small coffee table and chairs – an amazing view and sense of place and a great addition to this already good bedroom. An en-suite bathroom, with shower over, can be found off the main bedroom. There are blackout blinds fitted in the roof lights to ensure a good and long night's sleep.

There is an optional luxurious extra Super King/Twin en-suite room in the new Annexe which can also be booked for an extra £175 - £275 per week depending on the season. The room has its own key entry, and is very smart, with its own en-suite shower room, heating/hot water, mini fridge and kettle. It's perfect to accommodate up to 8, or just to provide extra privacy and space for 2 of your party. It can be made as a Super-King or Twin on request - and needs to be booked if required.

  • Bathrooms

There are three bathrooms in the main house, two of which are en-suite. All have been rebuilt to a high standard in recent years. Downstairs is the main shower room - with stylish loo, basin and shower enclosure. The high-quality shower itself has a handheld head as well as a huge overhead waterfall 'rose'. The downstairs en-suite has a glass sliding door and is fitted with a bath with shower over, hand basin and loo.

The redesigned en-suite bathroom for the main bedroom has been renovated to an extremely high standard and features a glass sliding door, high quality fixtures including a high-quality shower over the enclosed bath. The room enjoys a high level of natural light from the glass panels cut into the eaves of the chalet style roof.

The optional Annexe also has a very smart en suite bathroom, with shower, loo and basin.

  • Living

The heavy front door is sheltered from the weather by a porch and leads into the Cornish slate floored hallway. The hall is broad and elegant leading to a small landing via two steps and from here one has access to the stairs to the top floor, the kitchen or the sitting room.

The modern, sitting room is at the front of the property and has full length windows looking out across Treyarnon Bay to the Quies and Trevose Head. The high ceiling, beams and open slate fireplace combine with up to date furnishings, 43 inch curved 4K HD Samsung TV with Sky, DVD, CD player and surround sound bar to create a modern and comfortable ambience. There are two comfortable leather sofas and a pair of bookcases as well as attractive side lamps. It’s a lovely place to sit, whatever the weather outside. From here, glass French doors open up to the wooden decking with glass balustrade surround. Here you can sit at the large table for a meal, drinks or coffee or relax on the two sun loungers in summer while enjoying the view.

To the rear, newly constructed over the winter of 2018/19 is a generously proportioned day room with a stunning elevated pitch ceiling and trifold doors opening onto the rear paved patio. This is furnished to a high standard to provide an alternative area for relaxation and has underfloor heating. The room has a 57 inch 4K HD Samsung TV with a stunning Samsung soundbar. This television in the Samsung Frame range can be displayed as a wall picture when not in use.

The stairs lead up to the galleried landing and games room. There are great views from here also, as well as plenty of fun to be had around the six foot pool table and there is also a small desk.

  • Kitchen and Dining

The Loxley kitchen, beautifully fitted throughout, has an Aga, ceramic Siemens hob, combination microwave and conventional oven, dishwasher, washing machine, large fridge/freezer and a 32-bottle chiller cabinet. There is also a Nespresso coffee maker –compatible Starbucks pods can be purchased from Tesco in Padstow if you are not a Nespresso member. There are black granite work surfaces, which compliment perfectly the beautiful maple cupboards and drawers, and the continued slate floors. Pots and pans are high quality Aga. A large table and six chairs are set in front of two pairs of bi-fold aluminium doors which open onto the paved south facing patio area so that you can sit out and soak up the sun. The garden is secluded, has recently been re-landscaped to an extremely high standard and conveniently protected by a Tamarisk hedge, with farmland beyond.

  • Facilities

Morvoren has oil central heating. The boiler room is also off the hall and provides an ideal drying space with drying line inside. The tumble dryer is located in the lobby to the annexe, to which all guests have access. There is also a rotary dryer at the rear of the annexe. There is a 43-inch curved 4K HD satellite TV in the sitting room, with built in Netflix and NOW TV (which gives access to  Sky on demand content) for both of which there is a subscription, as well as a modern surround sound system with Bluetooth connection for your smart phone. You can connect your smart phone for music or to listen to your favourite podcasts. There is a 55-inch 4K HD TV in the dayroom with soundbar to which a smart phone can also be connected. This TV is internet connected and connected to the Netflix account. Recent upgrades provide excellent 4G connection to the Vodafone network although access to other networks is less good. A pool table provides plenty of fun for all - on rainy days, or late at night! Children can retire to the twin-bedded downstairs bedroom to watch a DVD or stream films and TV. A Solar PV system allows guests to be very 'green', using free electricity generated by the PV system when the sun shines. High speed wireless broadband is available throughout the house.

There is a 7kw Easee electric car charger fitted, with a Type 2 socket. Please bring your own lead, and you must register with Raintree prior to arrival/use so that the charger can be unlocked.

  • Outside

The front garden, which slopes down to the road, is mainly laid to lawn. The back area which is flat looks out across fields and is fenced and bordered by a small Cornish wall and Tamarisk hedge. A decked area at the front of the house enables you to relax and enjoy the fabulous view down the beach and across to Trevose Head. The gravelled drive leads up to the side of the house and garden and allows space for two or three cars to park. The rear garden has been landscaped and planted with a diverse range of summer flowering shrubs and herbaceous perennials. The large patio area has a comfortable table with six chairs and can be protected by the large cantilevered parasol and is well lit for night time dining. There is a top of the range Weber kettle BBQ. Steps lead from the patio to the lawn and there is a bench for sitting and enjoying the view across the bay.

To the side of the house is an outside hot shower, where you can shower after returning from the beach, leaving wetsuits an additional adjacent bench before leaving them to dry on the outside dryer.

  • Nearby

Treyarnon’s amazing beach is right on your doorstep. Only a few minutes’ walk will take you down a quiet road and then down a well-worn path onto the beach. You can enjoy its large sweep of sand, wonderful rocks for climbing and pooling, or unbeatable headland walking both north and south. There is also Treyarnon’s natural swimming pool carved into the rocks – it can be found on the far side of the bay below the headland. Surfing is also good at Treyarnon – receiving plenty of waves, but a little more manageable than some of the most exposed beaches. Mid to high tide is best. Lifeguards are in place at Treyarnon, May through September. This side of the beach is special – no through road for cars and no general parking – meaning that it is quiet and safe.

For a change, you can walk to Constantine Bay across the flat and easy headland in less than 10 minutes. It’s fine even for children in pushchairs once you are across the beach – and even if carrying your beach gear and picnic!

The coastal footpath is very easily accessible. Just take the path along the headland as you head down to the beach, past banks of wild flowers and garlic. The headland above the beach is very lovely and comfortable to lie back and relax for a while, or to look down on Treyarnon Island. Walking on towards Porthcothan is beautiful and dramatic.

For local shopping, Treyarnon Bay Stores in the beach car park can be very useful. For all manner of provisions and essentials, as well as your daily milk, bread and newspaper, it’s perfect. For a larger choice, you can walk to Constantine Bay Stores in about 15 minutes. Here you will find a range of quality food that may allow you to really avoid driving all week. Next door is Des’ surf shop for all manner of surf gear, to buy or rent.

Locally, the Youth Hostel across the beach is open to non-residents at different times of the day – for drinks, coffee and snacks and “Coastal Coffee” a food trailer on the beach car park offers good take away food in season.

Lovely house and well equipped. We especially appreciate the washing up products and the sensible number of tea towels provided. I usually bring some with me but they weren’t needed on this occasion. Excellent bathroom facilities and lovely showers. The absence of Windrushes this year gave us unimpeded views which we really loved though we realise that this will not last long!
If we had to suggest one improvement to the house, it might be to install a taller clear wind break at the left hand side/corner of the front deck as the prevailing wind is persistent and makes using the deck on any but the stillest day out of the question. But this is certainly only a suggestion and not a complaint! In more general terms, and this applies to all the holiday lets that we have experienced, all over the country, please could the coffee making equipment cater easily for the maximum number the house accommodates –  as there were six of us, an additional cafetiere or similar would have been useful. The pod machine is useful but we try to avoid them if at all possible. And finally,  please could you encourage your housekeeping staff to check dishwashers and replenish rinse aid and salt where appropriate.

Thoroughly enjoyed being back in Morvoren, definitely home from home,
love it!  The new outdoor shower is inspirational, perfect for both
people and dogs.

Stayed: 3rd Jul 2020

One of the things we like about Morvoren is that the owners take pride in it and every year there seems to have been a further improvement to make people’s stay enjoyable – this year it was the new outside shower, which is an excellent amenity.

Stayed: 15th Feb 2020

We really enjoyed our stay in Morvoren despite the terrible weather! The house was warm and comfortable and all the amenities and utensils were of high quality. We had a couple of problems but these were quickly fixed by the caretaker. I would highly recommend this holiday home.

Stayed: 23rd Dec 2019

We had a great time staying in Morvoren, thank you for making our booking and stay so easy and stress free- just what we needed for a Christmas break.

Stayed: 11th Jul 2019

We had a super time with some splendid weather throughout, as well as very uncrowded beaches.  We also greatly enjoyed Morvoren. What more can you ask than that!

Stayed: 29th Mar 2018

The house was lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, it’s in great spot and very warm, comfortable and welcoming.  Having stayed in Treyarnon for the past 12 years in a variety of properties there, by far our favourite to date.
A very well appointed house and we felt very comfortable and particularly loved the upstairs balcony.

Stayed: 10th Feb 2018

Lovely property, well equipped!  Perfect location.

Stayed: 5th Jan 2018

All fantastic thank you

Stayed: 21st Nov 2017

Thank you for the high standard of cleanliness – this is really appreciated. The house was spotless – we commend the cleaner. We love the house and will come back.

Stayed: 21st Nov 2017

In terms of feedback, we were impressed with the cleanliness of the house. The standard was much higher than with many other holiday rentals. We recognise that this is a house that accepts dogs, but there was not a single dog hair in sight. The cleaners must work incredibly hard to get the house looking just right for new guests arriving – thank you.

Stayed: 9th Nov 2017

Fabulous house facilities and location. All appliances and kitchen equipment good quality. Beds lovely and comfy. Cake on arrival very welcome as was milk and tea. Will book again via Raintree. Thank you.

Stayed: 28th Sep 2017

The house is beautifully situated and well designed.
