The Property

  • Atmosphere

St Petroc is a spectacular property providing comfortable and easy living in one of the best locations in Cornwall. Views across Treyarnon, to Constantine and Booby’s, Trevose Head and the Atlantic beyond are quite breathtaking. All the rooms in St Petroc are designed to make use of these incredible views. The property is well maintained and has a timeless charm and style that is augmented regularly with new and complimentary items. The house provides all you need for a superb beach holiday in the finest of settings.

  • Sleeping

There are four bedrooms at St Petroc, three upstairs and one on the ground floor. Each of the bedrooms upstairs has fantastic views - one with king bed, one with twin 3’ beds and the third has twin 2'6” beds. All have built-in wardrobes and drawers and two have wash basins. The downstairs bedroom has twin 3’ beds. A travel cot is provided.

  • Bathrooms

The main bathroom can be found upstairs, providing a bath with tap-attached shower over, basin and loo. There is a new shower room now off the main hall - which is a great addition. There is also a shower in the utility/beach room downstairs – good for everyday showering and also a perfect de-sanding area on return from the beach! There is also a basin and loo.

  • Living and Dining

The front door opens into a large open hallway with Cornish slate floors. The living room is big and airy with a large window looking out to sea and lovely stripped oak floor boards. Comfortable armchairs and a sofa provide ample space for reading, discussion, games and watching TV. New cupboards are of high quality and made of heavy wood complimenting the room. The dining table is located here, with seating for 8. Sliding doors at the other end of the room lead to the south-facing and sheltered patio at the back of the property.

There is a second sitting room or ‘snug’ next door. It is furnished with comfortable chairs and side tables, and provides a peaceful room away – a place for reading and relaxation away from the TV, or perhaps for board games and activity. The room faces out over the front garden to the sea.

  • Kitchen

The kitchen is modern and well equipped with ample work surfaces, an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and a dishwasher. A second upright freezer can be found under the stairs to be used as required. The sink faces the window and the views across the bay. There are plenty of items to make cooking fun - large baskets pull out to hold salad bowls and spinners, there are lovely glazed milk jugs, and attractive bone china mugs.

  • Facilities

On the right of the front door is the utility room/ beach room. It has a loo and shower as well as a washing machine, tumble-dryer and a large belfast sink. Garden furniture is stored here. The property is double-glazed throughout and is heated by storage heaters (with immediate convector heaters too), which keep the house warm all year round.

There is an outside tap and garden hose on the wall on the far side of the garage wall and a washing line along the garden wall.

St Petroc is set in it’s own large walled garden with lawns on all sides and surrounded by traditional tamarisk hedging. There are two terrace areas –one sheltered and south facing, the other more exposed but with tremendous views.

At the back of the house, accessed through the large sliding doors, is the main terrace. There are sun loungers and furniture for eating outside. This is a lovely space for relaxation, catching the sun all day, and sheltered from the prevailing breeze. With the beach so close, it is easy to come back to the house for lunch – or to perhaps stay behind for a little while on the sunny terrace! It works.

Round the front of St Petroc, there is a second lovely terrace. For the best of the views, this is unbeatable, stretching round the front and to the side of the house. There is a wooden square table with benches all round, providing seating for up to 8. Coffee, early evening drinks, or lunch – all are perfect here.

The lane outside is flat and traffic-free, so great for children to practise cycling.

Treyarnon’s amazing beach is right on your doorstep. A stile over the bottom garden wall onto the coastal path provides easy access to one of Cornwall's most attractive surfing beaches - lifeguards are on duty during the summer months. Only a minutes walk will take you down the well-worn path onto the beach. You can enjoy its large sweep of sand, wonderful rocks for climbing and pooling, or unbeatable headland walking both north and south. There is also Treyarnon’s natural swimming pool carved into the rocks – it can be found on the far side of the bay below the headland. Surfing is also good at Treyarnon – receiving plenty of waves, but a little more manageable than some of the most exposed beaches. Mid to high tide is best. Lifeguards are in place at Treyarnon, May through September. The position of St.Petroc is very special – no through road for cars and no general parking – meaning that it is quiet and safe.

For a change, you can walk to Constantine Bay in less than 10 minutes across the flat and easy headland over the far side of the beach. Its fine even for children in pushchairs once you are across the beach – and even if carrying your beach gear and picnic!

Walking is very easily accessible. Just take the path along the headland as you head down to the beach, past banks of wild flowers and garlic. The headland above the beach is very lovely and comfortable to lie back and relax for a while, or to look down on Trethias Island. Walking on towards Porthcothan is beautiful and dramatic.

For local shopping, Gary’s shop in the beach car park can be very useful. For all manner of provisions and essentials, as well as your daily milk, bread and newspaper, it’s perfect. For a larger choice, you can walk up through the campsite (when it's open from April - September) to Constantine Bay Stores in less than 10 minutes. Here you will find a range of quality food that allows you to really avoid driving all week. Next door is Des’ surf shop for all manner of surf gear, to buy or rent.

Locally, the Youth Hostel across the beach is open to non residents at different times of the day – for drinks, coffee and snacks.

We had a wonderful Easter break at St Petroc with the family, made even better by the unseasonably warm weather.
The house was spotlessly clean on arrival and we appreciated the cake, tea and milk. Also good to have locally sourced shower gel etc.
The travel cot was in good condition which we were pleased to see.
All the dealing that I have had with your administrative staff were very helpful and later offering us an extra night – Thursday before Easter – made our travel arrangements  ( no traffic jams! ) much easier.

Thank you for repairing bathroom windows and for putting in downstairs shower (all done since we last stayed at St Petroc in 2015, 2016).

We did have a great week at St Petroc, it was extremely well equipped, warm and cosy and the views were wonderful. Thanks for organising the Christmas tree and we very much appreciated the mince pies and walking into a warm house!

House and equipment excellent – we were really satisfied and comfortable.

We loved the house and it suited us perfectly but of course there are always one or two things that could be improved. We thought the size of fridge was inadequate for the number of people in the house and a spare fridge rather than spare freezer would have been a better option.  We also thought that the showering facilities in the bathroom could be improved with a screen. However everything else we could have wanted was provided particularly so in the kitchen which was extremely well equipped. Many thanks.

We had a great stay at St Petroc, and after many years renting various properties around this area from you, I think this is definitely the best location.  What a fantastic view, and so easy to get down to the beach.

Great location and great service from Raintree.  Bedding was great and made a big difference.
