Key Features
The Property
- Atmosphere
Trenouth is a breath-taking contemporary beach house uniquely positioned on the cliff top, minutes from the beach at Treyarnon. It has been totally remodelled throughout with a large open plan kitchen/living space that features spectacular high ceilings and huge windows that perfectly frame the views down the coast to Trevose Head. It can sleep up to 20 in 8 bedrooms including a unique Shepherds hut bedroom in the garden with double bed and cosy wood burning stove. There is also an impressive master suite with high ceilings, double shower and sinks, free standing bath and a picture window taking full advantage of the spectacular views. The living space incorporates a spacious seating area with a feature double glass sided wood burning stove, 2 dining tables and a fully equipped contemporary kitchen. A state of the art Sonos speaker system is fully integrated throughout all rooms, meaning any music collection can be played in any room from the touch of a smart phone.
Doors from the living space lead directly out to a huge decked terrace which wraps right around the house. This is a superb place to relax and enjoy the coastal views from every angle. The house itself also sits in a large plot with grassed garden to the rear of the property with space to play or relax in and stunning, landscaped gardens to the front. Just over the garden hedge the coastal path leads down the cliff side first to Treyarnon Bay and then a short flat walk further along the coast path to Constantine Bay, Booby’s Bay and Trevose Head. In the other direction the path bends around several secluded small coves before arriving at the beautiful Porthcothan Bay.
- Sleeping
Trenouth features 8 bedrooms in all. There are six bedrooms on the ground floor, the four bedrooms on the right of the corridor all feature great views out to sea. These four ‘sea facing’ bedrooms consist of two king size bedrooms, one with an en suite, a super king bedroom with en suite and the stunning and spacious super king master suite. This room has high ceilings with sky lights letting in huge amounts of light and a beautiful bespoke fabric bed frame and headboard. The picture window looking towards Trevose Head is the perfect place for sipping your morning coffee whilst taking in the views.
On the garden side of the ground floor, there is a twin room with attractive, built in wooden single beds at both ends and views out over the back garden. Next door is another spacious, L shaped king size bedroom with en suite bathroom. This is another stylish room with wall to wall bookshelves and individual furniture.
The remaining bedroom in the house is on the top floor, a large spacious dormitory style room which can sleep up to six in six single beds (four are made up as standard with the extra two single beds only made up on request - PLEASE request if two extra truckle beds needed). The room would work well for a large group of kids to spend the whole holiday together. It also benefits from multiple skylights each with sea view and is directly opposite the snug/TV room.
The eighth and final bedroom is in a completely separate outdoor shepherds hut in the garden. This has a king sized bed, running water, electric socket and wood burning stove. It creates a fun and uniquely cosy space to drop off to sleep while listening to the relaxing sound of the waves rolling in below you.
All bedrooms are simply and cleverly furnished with a mixture of vintage and modern pieces with comfy armchairs and eclectic chests of drawers. All bedrooms feature beautiful and extremely comfortable beds, heavy oak doors, brass door handles and wall hooks to hang clothes.
- Bathrooms
There are seven bathrooms, all fitted out in tactile natural stone with sleek bathroom fixtures and fittings. The main bathroom can be found on the ground floor with contemporary bath with shower over; modern loo and basin. Also along the main corridor there are two separate shower rooms, with basins and loos. All en suites are on the ground floor and include large shower cubicles with thick glass screens, modern loos, basins and heated towel rails. The master en suite is particularly impressive with gorgeous mottled teal coloured tiles, free standing bath and double sinks and shower; a truly luxurious place to relax.
- Living, Kitchen and Dining
The main living space allows masses of brilliant coastal light to flood in through large expanses of glazing; the views are captivating and the feeling of space is superb. It is a fully open plan space that integrates both living, dining and kitchen areas. There are two quality sofas in the lounge area to relax on and watch either the TV or the crackling glow of the huge double sided wood burner. The kitchen area is very well equipped and presented throughout, perfectly set up for cooking large meals or preparing picnics for the beach. There is a large stainless steel range cooker, butler sink and breakfast bar with 6 stylish industrial bar stools, perfect for breakfast and the heated discussion over the day’s plans. The vintage reclaimed wooden kitchen island in the centre of the kitchen space makes a great design statement, as does the long sturdy wooden dining table surrounded by Philip Starck ghost chairs. There is also an additional smaller dining table; the two tables together can easily seat everyone in your party.
Upstairs there is an additional snug with a large wall mounted TV and speakers, a comfy corner sofa and a classic Eames lounge chair.
This is the perfect space for adults or kids to retreat to after a long day at the beach or on a hopefully rare rainy day. Multiple skylights also provide great views and pleasant natural light.
- Facilities
Trenouth is heated using an air source heat pump and enjoys underfloor heating throughout. There is also a large feature double sided wood burner in the open plan living/dining and kitchen space. There is wireless broadband, a large flat screen TV and speakers in the upstairs snug as well as the main living space. There is also a state of the art Sonos in-wall/in-ceiling speaker system fully integrated throughout all the rooms in the house. This system allows a smartphone/laptop/tablets music collection to be played in individual or all of the rooms in the house. There are also 2 double Kayaks that can used to explore the nearby coastline.
There is a separate utility room, with extra stainless steel fridge freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer.
- Outside
Accessible directly from the main living space is the superb wrap around front and back terrace which has sublime views over the headland and out to sea. The terrace is the perfect place to sunbathe, sit and read a book. A great place to watch the sunset as the outdoor lighting slowly lights up around you. There are two tables on the terrace front and back which, alongside the evening lighting and the integrated outdoor heaters, make the terrace very well suited to communal alfresco meals.
Trenouth’s gardens are criss-crossed by attractive paths and have been fully landscaped with finely crafted stone sculptures, creatively planted borders and a useful herb garden to pick from.
Also within the garden sits the specially designed shepherds hut. This is a clever, small, additional sleeping space but also an attractive garden feature.
There is also ample parking for eight cars on the private drive.
- Nearby
One of Cornwall’s best beaches is minutes down the coast path. You can enjoy its large sweep of sand, wonderful rocks for climbing and pooling, or unbeatable headland walking both north and south. There is also Treyarnon natural swimming pool carved into the rocks – it can be found on the other side of the bay below the headland. Surfing is also good at Treyarnon – getting plenty of waves, but a little more manageable than some of the more exposed beaches. Mid to high tide is best. Lifeguards are in place at Treyarnon, May through October.
For a change, you can walk to Constantine Bay in less than 10 minutes across the flat and easy headland. Its fine even for children in pushchairs – and even if carrying your beach gear and picnic!
For local shopping, Treyarnon Bay Stores in the beach car park can be very useful. For all manner of provisions and essentials, as well as your daily milk, bread and newspaper, it’s perfect. For a larger choice, you can walk to Constantine Bay Stores in about 15 minutes. Here you will find a range of quality food that may allow you to really avoid driving all week. Next door is Des’ surf shop for all manner of surf gear, to buy or rent.
Locally, the Youth Hostel past the beach on the right is open to non-residents at different times of the day – for drinks, coffee and snacks. It has improved its range, and really is pretty good now for a light lunch or evening drinks in a fantastic setting and with wonderful views.
Beach barbecues are a regular feature of warm evenings at Treyarnon. Enjoy!

We had a wonderful time at Trenouth. All feedback is positive and really nothing to improve upon, apart from the lock to the shepherds hut is a bit dodgy, which we assume is salt in the lock, but it is not easy to unlock, especially when the door handle also unscrews. We were also unable to relock the left hand garage door on departure. Apart from these minor things, we thought the house was fantastic.

We love the house and it was just what we were wanting for the holiday.
The fitments, the art on the walls, towels and linen were of a great quality and the local smellies in the showers a nice treat.
The living room space and the view of the bay is amazing and the bedroom space and layout of the house really works well.

Just wanted you all to know what an amazing week at Trenouth we had earlier this month. Our group included 8 children from 6 to 15 and all were equally entertained on the local beaches. We were also lucky to be there on the night of the shooting stars, none of us will forget it. Back home our friends had cloud cover ! The Pop Festival too was a hit with the eldest children ! I think mention of the excellent life guards on your web site would be valuable,as an anxious granny I welcomed their presence not only for the safety of my grand children but also their Dads !
