The Property

This delightful two story house built in 1934 lies on the south side of Treyarnon Bay and is very close to the beach and has uninterrupted views over Treyarnon Bay. Inside, the property provides very relaxed and comfortable accomodation with a large dining table great for family gatherings.  A separate outside utility and shower room make Windrushes a practical and supremely well located place to stay.
  • Sleeping
On the first floor are four bedrooms. Three of the bedrooms - two twins and one king sized double - have views over the bay to the sea – each with hand basins and plenty of storage space. The fourth bedroom has end-to-end cabin style beds. These are most suitable for children. The upstairs is carpeted throughout. Downstairs can be found the fifth bedroom, off the back hall. In here there are bunk beds along with basin, drawer and hanging space.
  • Bathrooms
The family bathroom on the first floor has a bath, basin and loo. The airing cupboard is next door. Downstairs off the hall is a shower room, with a ‘power shower’ in its own cubicle. There is a second shower in the outside utility room – a large cubicle and powerful shower, a good option at any time not only when coming back from the beach. There is a separate cloakroom with loo and basin off the back hall.
  • Living and dining
The entrance hall has wooden floors and leads to the dining room and on to the sitting room. The sitting room, with windows to three sides, is well furnished with sofas, TV, DVD, bookshelves, electric fire and beautiful views of the sea. The door out to the open air sun room is also here. The dining area has a good-sized table which seats 8-10 comfortably and there is an extra table available if required. There is a service hatch through to the kitchen – for practicality and fun!
  • Kitchen
The kitchen is decorated in duck egg blue with quarry tiled floor. It has an electric cooker, dish washer, fridge/freezer and microwave. A magnificent view of the Atlantic is seen from the kitchen window – best enjoyed at the kitchen table. Through the kitchen is the back hall which has a large pantry cupboard for dry goods and a cabinet designed for storage of recycling. The cloakroom is here, as is the fifth bedroom and the way out to the back door.
  • Facilities
Windrushes is heated by storage heaters, an electric fire in the lounge and plug-in electric heaters. It is equipped with wireless broadband.
Through the back door and back into the single storey extension at the end of the house is the utility area. This is a very useful couple of rooms with extra fridge and freezer space, washing machine, dryer and sink. Storage for wetsuits and surfboards is also here, as well as other beach paraphernalia. The other shower is also here.

At the other side of the house is an enclosed area known as the open air sunroom or loggia. This is a real sun trap and an ideal place for outdoor dining. Nearby is the barbecue. The garden is set on varying levels and overlooks the beach. To the north the garden is laid to lawn, and slopes down in a series of grassy steps. Behind the house and facing the sea is a secluded area with an old sealed wishing well and wooden seat, from where one can sit and sunbathe in privacy and shelter. A small section of grass alongside the drive and just outside the sun room always seems popular for impromptu relaxation! Very sheltered and hot! There is a little gate and stile leading from the garden to the path down to the beach. The drive is approached through double gates and there is ample spacing for two or three cars.

Treyarnon’s popular beach is right below the house. A stile and gate at the bottom of the garden provides easy access to one of Cornwall's most attractive surfing beaches - lifeguards are on duty during the summer months. Only a minute’s walk will take you down the well-worn path onto the beach. You can enjoy its large sweep of sand, wonderful rocks for climbing and pooling, or unbeatable headland walking both north and south. There is also Treyarnon’s natural swimming pool carved into the rocks – it can be found on the far side of the bay below the headland. Surfing is also good at Treyarnon – receiving plenty of waves, but a little more manageable than some of the most exposed beaches. Mid to high tide is best. Lifeguards are in place at Treyarnon, May through September. The Trethias (south) side of the beach is special – no through road for cars and no general parking – meaning that it is both quiet and safe.
For a change, you can walk to Constantine Bay in less than 10 minutes across the flat and easy headland over the far side of the beach. It's fine even for children in pushchairs once you are across the beach – and even if carrying your beach gear and picnic!
Walking is easily accessible. Just take the path along the headland as you head down to the beach, past banks of wild flowers and garlic. The headland above the beach is very lovely and comfortable to lie back and relax for a while, or to look down on Trethias Island. Walking on towards Porthcothan is beautiful and dramatic.
For local shopping, Gary’s shop in the beach car park can be very useful. For all manner of provisions and essentials, as well as your daily milk, bread and newspaper, it’s perfect. For a larger choice, you can walk up through the campsite (when it's open from April - September) to Constantine Bay Stores in less than 10 minutes. Here you will find a range of quality food that allows you to really avoid driving all week. Next door is Des’ surf shop for all manner of surf gear, to buy or rent.
Locally, the Youth Hostel across the beach is open to non residents at different times of the day – for drinks, coffee and snacks. Think of it as the local pub and cafe - it works well.

We had a great holiday at Windrushes, it was a great location, close to the beach with great views. The house was wonderful, well kitted out, spacious, comfortable with good parking. It was quiet location, with good walking available too. The little shop at the car park across the bay was ideal for milk, & bread and what fantastic Victoria Sponge cakes! The body boards & buckets & crab nets in the utility room were a welcome surprise. I would recommend this house & Raintree to my friends and will be using this again at some point in the future.
