Blistering Half-Term – what about June?
9th June 2010
For those down over half-term – you were lucky!
What a great week of weather and surf. Sorry if you didn’t make it, but we did try to tempt you.
I was lucky enough to be on holiday at Booby’s Bay – and had a great week of barbecues, cycle rides, cowrie hunting, rockpooling and of course a small amount of surfing. The surf was a little too big (and good!) for me over the 1st half of the week – but Thursday onwards was just perfect. The size of the surf did make me feel a bit better about forgetting my drop net and lobster pot. I was hoping to write my fishing page on the site – but remain clueless after all. Will have to wait until I can justify another holiday!
Got a little carried away on the dining front too – great meal at No 6 in Padstow. Lovely. And then an intrepid trip to the ‘dark’ side – all the way across the water (and back) to St Enodoc Hotel at Rock. Nathan Outlaw’s new tasting menu was very tasty indeed, as was the rather fine wine list. And again we were lucky with the weather – still and warm as we caught the last water taxi home to Padstow at midnight. Lucky indeed!
So what’s coming up, if you think perhaps you need to get a fix? Well, June is quite busy, but we still have some houses left, particularly some of the larger ones.
Don’t tell anyone, but Booby’s Bay Cottage has a couple of free weeks. And the wonderful Tresillian at Harlyn has a week or 2. Or look at the luxurious Cheyne or Curlews – or try Torridon at Trevone, so well presented and so well located. Or, not so confident about the weather? Have a look at Mole End at Constantine, with it’s own indoor heated pool. Gortheren, the beautifully refurbished house at Trevone has some time towards the end of June – as does Westwinds – while Penamont has options for those who like to be near the golf course. Neptune – as a snug and smart bolthole right by the beach at Treyarnon – is free 19th and 26th weeks. Most houses have some space in June – take advantage!
So do consider June – if you have young children or children are just a distant memory – take advantage. Cock a snook at us poor school-age parents, and get down to Trevose. There is no better time than over the next few weeks.
But if you are tied into school holidays, there are still a few options left over for the summer. Ring your friends and family, and take a look at Tresillian – we have had a cancellation for the 22nd August week. Great for 13, with plenty of space to enjoy and relax. Or you may be more restricted towards the last week of August where there are still a few weeks left. We will get a list of all summer holiday weeks organised in the next few days!
Finally, a great new house has been added at Constantine – Seascape. Sleeping 10, and right near Constantine Bay Stores – close to all the action. But don’t get excited – its booked solid already, except a little gap Sat 3rd July – anyone interested?
