Dog friendly October!
1st October 2025
Dog friendly October is here!
It’s officially October which means it’s the season for autumnal, invigorating dog walks; and even better when there’s a café or pub at the end! Why not book a short break with us, enjoy a peaceful Cornwall off season and bring your four legged friend along for the adventure! And part of the magic is you can adapt any walk to suit ability, weather or personal preference.
Here are our top 5 favourite dog walks of the season, all within easy reach of our holiday homes. Remember dogs should always be on leads around the cliffs!
We recommend the iWalk Cornwall phone app for more suggestions and further info.
1. Constantine Bay to Porthcothan – circular, 4.9 miles, easy-moderate
This circular walk follows the coastline from Porthcothan to Constantine. Think sandy beaches (which are dog friendly all year round!), vibrant wildlife and rugged rock faces. Once you’ve warmed up at Constantine Beach Cafe with a hot chocolate, either amble back the way you came or along the scenic lanes further inland. Spot the natural swimming pool at Treyarnon too!

2. Seven Bays (via bus) – one way, 6.8 miles, easy-moderate
To experience the iconic 7 bays in all their glory, this is the walk for you! Catch the bus there or back (times on the Transport for Cornwall bus website) before enjoying the coastline’s spectacular views from start to finish. Dogs will love the freedom of no dog restrictions on all the beaches (Trevone has seasonal guidelines but no restrictions in October) Don’t forget to get a photo with Trevose Head lighthouse. Mother Ivey’s bay is perfect for a cold water dip if you’re brave enough! There are cafes and coffee stops dotted along the route for refreshments.

3. Trevose Head – circular, 2 miles, easy
A circular walk around the rugged coastline, the perfect place to spot wildlife or enjoy the views with man’s best friend. The wintery waves often expose the hidden shipwreck at Booby’s Bay too so keep an eye out for that! Pack a flask for a hot drink pit stop to admire the spectacular views part way round.

4. Porthcothan to Bedruthan Steps – circular, 6.2 miles, moderate
Believed to be a giant’s stepping stones by the Victorians, Bedruthan Steps is a well renowned beauty spot and is arguably best enjoyed on a windy winter’s day when the waves crash against the rocks. For the avid hikers, you could even extend the walk to include Mawgan Porth beach, another dog friendly favourite! Again, there are plenty of stops along the route for refreshments or to warm up on a brisk day! Carnewas Tea Room at Bedruthan is a great place for a cream tea.

5. Trevone to Padstow via Stepper Point – circular, 7.4 miles, moderate
A circular walk to Padstow from Trevone beach, which tracks the route taken by sailing ships along the rugged Atlantic coast to the daymark at Stepper Point, past the infamous Doom Bar and the sandbanks of Hawker’s, Harbour and St George’s coves before finally reaching safe harbour in Padstow. Padstow is extremely dog friendly and the perfect place to explore and stop for lunch!
