Embrace wild swimming in 2026!
7th January 2026
Wild swimming has become increasingly popular over the last few years, with many seeking a cold refresh for its multiple health benefits. In Cornwall, we’re spoilt for choice for swim spots, from idyllic rivers to the sea nearly every way you turn!
Here are our favourite spots near us which you might want to keep in mind for your next wild dip!
(Remember to check tide times, weather and surf reports before going in the sea. Never go wild swimming alone or let someone know where you’re going. Wear appropriate, visible clothing. It’s always recommended to start at a lifeguarded spot. Take all rubbish and litter with you)
Treyarnon Tidal Pool
A popular spot just a few hundred metres from Treyarnon Beach with two smaller mermaid pool and the large tidal pool. There is ample space for a refreshing dip or to enjoy the calm while watching the waves. There is ample car parking at Treyarnon main car park, a short walk from the beach and refreshments there too.

Trevone Sea Pool (Tinker Bunny)
Just off the coast path at Trevone, you’ll find Trevone sea pool. A natural pool, renowned to be ideal for children and dogs. Enjoy views along the coast as you bathe in the rejuvenating waters. Best to park in Trevone’s main car park. Always a good idea to take a hot chocolate from Trevone Beach Stores for the perfect warmer after a cold dip!

Mother Ivey’s Bay
An increasingly popular beach, and one of our 7 bays, Mother Ivey’s is a gem. A lovely secluded beach with clear blue waters on a lovely day and white sand. Not far from Harlyn and a short way along the coast path, it’s a great spot for a dip mid walk in nice weather. Park at Constantine and walk across or nearby Harlyn for a stretch of the coast path.

Porthcothan Horse Pool
The history around the name of this pool is slightly hazy, however this isn’t one to miss. Only accessible at low tide on the right side of Porthcothan beach, the Horse Pool is another natural tidal pool, tucked away from the elements. One of the deepest, this one is not advisable for dogs or children but it is a truly picturesque spot nonetheless.
