Feb half-term at Porthcothan

Feb half-term is upon us!!

I have ordered the Veg boxes, Breakfast packs, huge ham, massive Pork shoulder, bacon, sausages (too many pork products do you think?), eggs (Jane’s own I hope!) all from Padstow Farmshop; 3 cases of wine ordered – Prosecco, white (but no sauvignon blanc please, and perhaps some muscadet) and 2 cases of red – all from David at BinTwo. Tesco order done – for the basics only! All being delivered and waiting for us when we arrive. Ideal.

Some question of Friday night or Saturday morning arrival. Of course Friday. We’re not that old! Never mind Libby’s CCF, or Robin’s mandarin….we always go down the evening….so we get a full day the next day and wake up overlooking the sea!

Feb half-term – rather too many of my family in Porthcothan! Great fun!

Still amazing houses left to be booked. Prices very low – so much better value than October half-term….and a great time to be down. Ok, so the sea’s freezing. But any sun is really warming, and the promise of spring coming and the summer ahead is warming too! Time to get in the sea anyway? The kids will be…and suppose I really should be too…

Rugby at the Tredrea on Sunday afternoon. Drop net and bait packed (never caught anything!), kites prepared. Tide tables consulted for when we can make it through the secret passage and wade to the Trescor Islands – looks low midday, mid-week. Perfect

Plenty of wood to burn at Trevethan and burners to burn it in. Must get some revision in for the Scrabble championship.

Have a great week whatever you are doing.

If you can’t make Feb half-term, do consider April for Easter hols, or if it can work for you, later April and May. Very good value, often lovely weather, and so many very special houses with weeks available. Have a look at Cape Cod or Atlantic House!
