10 Things to Do in North Cornwall This February Half Term

February half term is the perfect time to escape to the rugged beauty of North Cornwall. With fewer crowds, bracing sea air, and plenty of cosy spots to warm up, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Whether you’re staying in Trevone, Harlyn, Treyarnon, Porthcothan, or Constantine Bay, here’s a guide to making the most of your winter break.

1. Explore Padstow’s Harbour and Shops
Padstow’s charming harbour is a year-round delight. Wander along the quayside, pop into the boutique shops, and enjoy freshly baked treats from local bakeries. Don’t miss the National Lobster Hatchery, where kids can learn about marine conservation and even adopt a lobster!

3. Walk the Stunning Coastal Paths
Wrap up warm and head out on the South West Coast Path. The stretch between Harlyn Bay and Trevone offers breathtaking views of dramatic cliffs and crashing waves. iWalk Cornwall has some great suggestions for circular walks in the local area too.

4. Visit the Beach
The beaches of the Seven Bays are perfect for a winter’s walk or letting the kids blow off some steam. Bring a kite or simply enjoy hunting for shells along the shoreline. The winter light over the Atlantic is magical.

5. Warm Up by the Fire in a Traditional Pub
After a day exploring, retreat to one of the area’s cosy pubs. The Cornish Arms in St Merryn offers roaring fires, hearty meals, and a welcoming atmosphere for all the family.

6. Take a trek on the Moor
If you can tear yourselves away from the beaches, Cornwall’s countryside interior is well worth exploring too. Take a day trip up to Roughtor and walk to the top. Sturdy shoes are recommended and the walk to the top should take an hour or so. It’s worth it as on a clear day the views are spectacular. After all your exertion, stop in St Breward on the way and have a pint at The Old Inn.

7. Enjoy a Family Day Out at Camel Creek Adventure Park
For a day packed with fun, head to Camel Creek Adventure Park. With indoor and outdoor attractions, it’s perfect for entertaining children on cooler days.

8. Indulge in the Mid-Week Winter Lunch at The Pig at Harlyn Bay
This relaxed yet stylish restaurant offers a special mid-week winter lunch menu that runs until 28th February. Expect hearty, locally sourced dishes in a cosy and inviting setting – the perfect treat after a morning walk.

9. Enjoy Lunch at Trevibban Mill Vineyard and Orchard
Although wine tours aren’t available during February half term, you can still enjoy a delicious lunch at Trevibban Mill’s restaurant. Their seasonal menu features locally sourced ingredients and pairs beautifully with their wines.

10. Cycle the Camel Trail
The Camel Trail is a fantastic way to explore North Cornwall’s countryside. Rent bikes in Padstow and enjoy the gentle, scenic route along the estuary to Wadebridge. It’s a great activity for families, offering stunning views and plenty of spots to stop to admire the view.
