Half terms and Holiday periods
At half-terms the change over day will normally move to a Friday/Saturday arrive/depart, with the price being taken from the Wednesday before. It will also be adjusted to best include the holiday periods of Easter, Christmas and New Year.
Beachcombers is quite an individual house, decorated and designed for it's owners with many high quality finishes and plenty of inspiration. From the moment you walk into the entrance hall there is a sense of calm and space. The ground floor is largely open plan - with the kitchen opening out into the dining area, and further out onto the sunny terrace and garden at the back. The downstairs sitting room has high ceilings and is flooded with light - a great room to be in. The stone floors, wood burners, individual Kenyan furniture, and bespoke kitchen all provide a real sense of style and quality, letting you know that you are staying somewhere rather special and not in just another holiday house.
Five bedrooms are arranged over the ground and 1st floor. The large master bedroom can be found upstairs, with views down towards the sea across the rooftops of Constantine. There is a significant sliver of sea view from the large windows that fill the whole west facing/rear wall. The room is carpeted and has a King sized bed, plenty of hanging space and a large and heavy chest of drawers. There is also a basin in the bedroom.
The other 4 bedrooms are downstairs. The 2nd bedroom has a double (4ft 6in) bed and is located with 2 other bedrooms down the hall at the far end of the ground floor. It has a window facing out to the rear garden. It has a single wardrobe with rail and top shelf, a 3 drawer bedside unit, a built-in cupboard ideal for suit cases, a pull cord blind, and 4 wall mounted coat hooks. Next door is the first of the twin rooms and the other opposite at the end of the hall. The first has a 7 drawer chest of drawers and 4 wall mounted hooks and hangers. The 2nd has an 8 drawer chest of drawers, a 3 door cupboard at knee height and 5 wall mounted hooks and hangers. The 2nd twin has windows out onto the large front lawn.
The 5th bedroom is located off the front entrance hall and is a reasonably sized single room. It has a nice feel and has a Kenyan mangrove wood single bed. There is a blind, 3 wall mounted hooks, a small cupboard and bedside cabinet.
There are two bath/shower rooms at Beachcombers. Downstairs is a modern shower room with corner cubicle and powerful shower. There is also a loo, basin and heated towel rail. The bathroom is located upstairs. It has an 'avocado' coloured bath, basin and loo and a large Velux window. The shower attachment over the bath is really best used as a handheld while in the bath - there is no shower curtain and so is not best used as a stand-up shower.
- Kitchen and Dining
The main open-plan area of Beachcombers is given over to the beautiful handmade kitchen, the dining area and a large open space leading out onto the terrace at the back and to the back hall and bedrooms. The kitchen has slate worktops and bespoke maple wood cabinets. The cooker is a large gas range, with 5 burners, 1 large oven and a stainless steel extractor and splash-back. The one and a half sink is also stainless steel and located with a view out over the front lawn. There is an under-counter fridge (the large fridge-freezer being nearby in the utility room) and a dishwasher.
The dining table is alongside the kitchen positioned to allow plenty of fun while preparing food and also making serving and clearing away easy. The table seats 8 with ease and has plenty of room for 9 or 10 when needed. There are also armchairs within this large living space and a good-sized and very effective Charnwood wood burner. This is a great space, and much of your time will be spent in here.
- Living rooms
Beachcombers really benefits from 2 completely separate sitting rooms - perfect when a big gang of children seem to colonize an area of the house! Downstairs through glazed double doors off the main living area is a large extension with towering ceiling height and massive light ! The ceiling has exposed timbers and big roof windows, and large French doors which head out onto the back terrace. This rather special room also has stripped oak flooring, a modern Contura wood burner, a flat screen TV and DVD, and 3 large Kenyan mangrove wood sofas. The room is painted white throughout and the effect in the room is fantastic. Upstairs, there is a 2nd sitting room - itself large as well with many comfortable arm chairs and a small sofa. There is also a large flat screen TV and books and games for your use. Keep cosy up here by lighting the 3rd wood burner! Views are similar to the master bedroom - towards the sea across Constantine.
Entertainment includes 2 flat screen TVs and DVD, a bluetooth Cambridge Audio Minx GO music player, and wireless broadband is also available. There is a good-sized utility with large fridge-freezer, washing machine, microwave, more worktop and kitchen units and a sink. The tumble dryer is located outside a back door in the alley. The house has electric heating - but most radiators are very modern and controlled centrally. There are 3 wood burners, so the house can be kept very warm and to your requirements. A basket of wood should be provided for your stay and you can order more from Raintree.
The gardens at Beachcombers are a particular bonus. At the front there is a large grass area that is perfect for a bit of football or a kick around with a rugby ball. Rather good for a cricket wicket too!
Round the back is the south-west facing back garden and terrace. The bbq and garden furniture is here, and 2 sets of French windows lead out from the kitchen/dining room and the downstairs sitting room. You can also get into the rear garden via a pedestrian gate at the far end of the house - secured with a keycode.
The rear garden is a perfect suntrap for late afternoon and into the evening, and a lovely place to eat out at any time. There are fig trees here, some vegetable beds and a herb garden just by the pedestrian gate at the front - help yourself!
Beachcombers is located very well for most of your immediate requirements. The shops at Constantine are about 100 yards down the lane - good for all kinds of food or supplies as well as surf rental. The golf club is another 150 yards along the same road. And you are minutes from the two wonderful beaches of Constantine and Treyarnon. The beach at Constantine can be reached down the beach road past the shops, or down a small footpath from the corner of the golf club and along the edge of the golf course. The path emerges in the middle of the fantastic dunes at the top of the beach after less than 10 minutes walk. You can easily walk to Treyarnon too - right out of the house, and then right across the campsite. Both beaches are under 10 minutes walk.
St Merryn is the nearby village providing pubs and shops, as well as a number of restaurants including Rafferty's or The Olive Tree for dining out. Padstow is only 10 minutes drive away -with its array of boutique shops and gourmet eateries.

We had 8 young people staying at beachcombers and it was the perfect size – lovely open public rooms although some bedrooms quite small with very little wardrobe space. If there was any complaint and this is more feedback than complaint – there was only one shower, there was another but no shower curtain or shower door so it could not be used without soaking the floor!!

We had a lovely holiday, the property is easy and we always have a good time.
