  • Atmosphere

If you are dreaming of coastal views, beachy interiors and unusual design, unique and boutique Ursula’s Garden is just the property! Occupying what was once the site of Catharine Dawson Scott’s writing studio – an Edwardian writer of some repute who frequently wrote about Cornwall – the house was built in the Arts and Crafts style in 2010 and exquisitely combines restful ambiance with modern living. Set just back from the beach road in Constantine Bay, you will be within just a few minutes of all the action. Engineered oak floors, subtle muted furnishings and a cosy wood burner for when the weather is cooler, make Ursula’s Garden a truly memorable place to stay all year round. Outside, the sunny garden and patio are just perfect for the warmer weather.

  • Sleeping

There are four comfortable bedrooms at Ursula’s Garden, one on the ground floor and a further three upstairs. All are decorated simply yet stylishly, with cosy woollen blankets and pops of colour in the soft furnishings and artwork.

The master ensuite bedroom on the first floor a wonderful light-filled space, with nautical style soft furnishings, wood floors and French doors which open up onto your own private balcony with sea views – perfect for enjoying a coffee on a sunny morning. This room has its own ensuite bathroom with bath, shower cubicle, loo and basin.

There are a further two bedrooms upstairs; a twin with white wooden beds which also has an ensuite shower room, and a cabin room nestled in the eaves with a Velux window.

The final bedroom is off the downstairs hallway and is set up as a super-king, but can also be a twin on request. Decorated in shades of grey and blush pink, this is a sunny and bright room which also has access to the terrace through the French windows. This room also benefits from an ensuite shower room which can also be accessed via the kitchen too.

  • Living and dining

The kitchen, lounge and dining area truly are the heart of this unique home. The furniture is simple and elegant, with soft comfortable cushions which invite you to sink into them after a long day on the beach. There’s a large wood burner for those wild weather nights, or, when the weather is balmy, open up the French windows and let the outside in. There is a large smart TV for family viewing.

Dining is a delight – the table which seats 8, sits under a triptych of cottage style bay windows – perfect for a laid back lunch or a decadent dinner.

The kitchen is fitted out with curvaceous glossy white units and solid natural wood worktops echoing the organic interior lines of the house. All mod cons are here, including a full size dishwasher, cooker, hob, microwave, under counter fridge and freezer, and the all-important Nespresso Vertuo machine. There’s also a small additional table – perfect for indulging in a Cornish cream tea for two!

  • Bathrooms

There are three bathrooms at Ursula’s Garden. Downstairs there is a shower room which has dual access from both the kitchen and from the downstairs bedroom. There is a handy Sheila maid for drying clothes (or wetsuits) making this bathroom perfect for showering off when coming back from a day on the beach. Two further bathrooms are upstairs, both are ensuite to the biggest bedrooms. The master ensuite has a bath, separate shower cubicle, sink and loo. The twin ensuite has a shower cubicle, basin and loo.

  • Outside

The main outside space at Ursula’s Garden is at the front to take full advantage of the Cornish sunshine. The small decked area is the perfect spot for an alfresco breakfast, or an evening barbeque. There is parking for two cars, or three if small ones. A set of stone steps lead down to the garden from the parking area. This has a rail on one side, but the other side is open and there is no rail – the less mobile and children should take care. It’s possible to access the rear of the house via a path on top of the wall – care should be taken here as well as the wall is not that wide, unfenced and quite high up. It is better to use the front door for all entries and exits.
