Key Features
- Atmosphere
In one of the most sought after locations in North Cornwall, Tremblaze is a newly built, luxurious family friendly home with superb sea views. While the space on the inside is undoubtedly beautiful, it’s the setting that really steals the show. Wake up to the sound of the waves lapping the shore from Harlyn Bay just in front of the house. Its golden arc of sand is just a couple of minutes on foot and can be accessed via the private path directly in front of the house. Inside Tremblaze you’ll find muted maritime inspired design with open plan living, dining and cooking areas, ensuring that this is the perfect place to escape for some beach-side boutique luxury. Warm wood clad interiors give the house a homely and cosy feel, while pops of colourful art provide interest and style. Tremblaze has everything you need to stay put and do nothing for a few days, but if you want to venture further afield, there’s great coastal walking right from the door-step, and Padstow, with its quintessential harbour and plethora of bars and restaurants is just a short drive away. For those guests of a sporting persuasion, a shared on-site tennis court is available for some friendly competition.
- Living, dining and cooking
The luxe, deep blue kitchen is the heart of this beach-side home. A vaulted ceiling and dual aspect lets the light flood in making food preparation a pleasure. Luxuriously finished with quartz worktops, there’s plenty of space and equipment to rustle up a holiday feast using the freshest of local produce. A solid wood dining table occupies the space in front of the French doors – slide these open in summer and let the cooling sea breeze drift in. Directly off the dining area, the sitting room has a huge, squishy corner sofa, thoughtfully positioned to take full advantage of the ocean view and a welcoming spot to curl up with a book. There’s plenty of room for everyone to gather here to watch TV and chat about their day. After supper, head up the spiral staircase to the showstopper sitting room on the mezzanine. Sumptuously deep pale blue sofas, sheepskin throws and coastal inspired cushions makes this the perfect place to kick back and watch the sun go down while planning the next day’s seaside adventures.
- Sleeping and bathing
Tremblaze has four well-appointed bedrooms; three with ensuite bathrooms. The master suite is off the main living area and has a wooden superking bed. Colour-washed in calming neutrals and a high vaulted ceiling, this is a relaxing space to retreat to after a day on the beach. Refresh in the luxurious ensuite with a waterfall shower, basin and backlit mirror.
The other three bedrooms are downstairs off the main entrance hall. The second bedroom is a king size. Blush pink walls, soft grey furniture and crisp white bedding combine to make this a dreamy space for blissful sleep. This bedroom also has and ensuite with walk in shower, basin and loo. The twin bedroom also has the same soothing pink and grey theme, accented with blue cushions and artwork, whilst an indulgent ensuite with shower, basin and loo is available for freshening up. The final bedroom has twin beds and a set of bunks. Funky ice cream artwork makes this a fun dorm room for the kids to hang out.
Also on the ground floor, the family bathroom has a deep bath for luxurious unwinding, a walk in shower, basin and loo.
- Facilities
The utility room is home to a washing machine and tumble dryer. There’s also a handy hanging rail is available for drying off wetsuits and swimming gear. Guests at Tremblaze have use of the tennis court on The Field – bring your own racquets if you’d like to use it.
- Outside
For sunny days, there is a terrace just outside the downstairs living area. The garden is fully enclosed with wooden fencing, making this a safe place for children to play on the lawn. Wooden sun-loungers and armchairs are available for relaxation while the outdoor bench is ideal for gathering together for an alfresco supper on a balmy summer’s evening. When the light falls, head inside up the spiral stairs to the mezzanine and soak up the holiday vibe while watching the sun dip down over the horizon –the perfect end to a day on the coast.
- Nearby
Tremblaze is ideally situated for a visit to The Pig restaurant and bar. Just a 10 minute stroll will find you in the grounds of this very special place. With an emphasis on locally grown food, much from their own kitchen garden, this is a must-visit if you are nearby.
The nearest beach is a short 5 minute walk via a private path and gate to the centre of Harlyn beach. Constantine and Booby’s bays are also both within a short distance or you can carry on around the coast path in either direction to explore the further sandy bays in either direction. Trevose golf club is on the doorstep with a variety of facilities to enjoy - aside from the golf course there are 3 tennis courts, swimming pool and a restaurant.
Harlyn beach is one of the best family beaches around – very long with plenty of sand even at high tide. The beach car park is at one end of the beach, and many do not make it further than the 1st half of the beach. From where the footpath ends in steps down to the beach, the beach is absolutely magnificent – with fantastic rock formations and small caves and overhangs to sunbathe and relax. When the sun is out and the air is warm, this end of Harlyn really feels almost tropical.
If you don't want to take a picnic to the beach, food is available at Big Pan; paella, curries, freshly cooked crepes and hot and cold drinks. Head up to the deck on the roof for fabulous sea views with your coffee. Sunset sessions with live music happen every Thursday in July and August. Further up the car park, The Beach Box serves coffee and snacks and the famous Da Bara cinnamon buns. In summer you can also enjoy a cold beer or a cocktail from their Airstream bar.
Alternatively, you can walk down the road in a few minutes to the small bridge, and onto the beach here by the car park. Here you can hire surf boards and book surf lessons. Harlyn is well renowned for surfing – being protected from the prevailing winds and yet still picking up plenty of waves. It’s a perfect place to learn, and you will find that many surf schools do most of their training here.
For shopping, St Merryn is minutes away, or Padstow itself is nearby. Five minutes drive will get you to the supermarket, or down into the town for a selection of boutiques and tempting dining options - from the simple pasty to the more gourmet offerings from Paul Ainsworth or Rick Stein.
Stayed: 19th Jun 2024
We had a great stay at Tremblaze during the week 19th to 26th June. The house was beautifully presented and furnished and met all our needs. We have been going to Harlyn for over 30 years so knew the area beforehand and the beautiful setting and beaches. This was certainly one of the best if not the best house we have stayed in. Our thanks to yourselves and the owners. Please put us on your mailing list for next year.
