- Atmosphere
Carrek Cottage sits in the centre of Trevone, one of North Cornwall’s best loved coastal villages. Just a short stroll from the farm shop and local café, and only a ten-minute walk down the hill to the golden sands of Trevone Bay, this pretty stone cottage offers the perfect base for a seaside break. With its soft blue door, slate roof, and sturdy granite walls, Carrek Cottage feels instantly inviting. Step inside and you’ll find a cosy, beautifully restored home that blends original Cornish character with relaxed modern style.
- Cooking, dining and living
Downstairs, the extended kitchen is a real feature of the house. Finished with soft blue cabinets, black worktops, and slate floors, it feels both smart and comfortable. The breakfast bar with high stools makes a lovely spot for slow breakfasts or evening drinks, and the open plan layout with sofa and TV invites you to unwind after a day by the sea. The kitchen is fully equipped to make holidaying easy, with everything you need for relaxed cooking, including a Nespresso machine for your morning coffee. Glass doors open onto the large patio, blurring the line between indoors and out, and creating a perfect space for summer dining or evening drinks in the coastal air.
The sitting room keeps its traditional feel, with exposed beams, slate floors, and a wood-burning stove. A large leather corner sofa creates the perfect place to gather, whether you’re warming up after a beach walk or simply relaxing with a film in the evening. At the other end of the sitting room, a dining area seats six comfortably beside another woodburner, making it ideal for family meals or relaxed evenings in.
- Bedrooms and bathrooms
Head up the oak staircase to the three bedrooms. The master bedroom is a tranquil retreat with a king-size bed, ensuite shower room, and private balcony overlooking the garden and glimpses of the sea, filled with light and a sense of space. Natural wood floors run throughout all the bedrooms, adding warmth and character. The second bedroom also has a king-size bed and a dual aspect, while the third bedroom offers twin beds making it ideal for children or friends. A new family bathroom serves the second and third bedrooms, with a bath and overhead shower, basin, and loo. Each room is thoughtfully arranged to provide a restful space after a day exploring the coast.
- Facilities
Carrek Cottage has parking for two cars; one directly in front of the house and a further space opposite in front of the garage. Electric car owners can charge using the fitted 7Kw EV charger (available for an extra charge). The cottage is centrally heated throughout.
Outside
Outside, the split-level garden is peaceful and private, with bushes, ornamental trees, and a small lawn on the upper level. The lower patio, conveniently located off the kitchen, offers seating and a charcoal barbeque, making outdoor dining effortless. At the front, a separate outdoor shower is perfect for rinsing off after the beach.
Nearby
Carrek Cottage is located in the heart of Trevone. You can quickly walk or drive down to the main sandy beach, or the rather wonderful Newtrain beach, with its rock pools and natural swimming pool. Or go on round to the lovely sandy bays in either direction - maybe you may find some cowries here.
The beach shop is well equipped with surf and wetsuit rental and perfect for a morning coffee while you read the papers. There is cafe eating at lunchtime or supper in season all out on the great terrace behind the beach - all with an easy walk home. Closer still to the house is the Trevone farmshop (good for papers and bread, and all sorts of essentials), and the Well Parc pub - a nice place for a drink or game of pool, with a fantastic view over the beaches. Padstow Farm Shop is also only a few minutes drive away - with full butchers shop and the freshest local vegetables.
Padstow is only 5 minutes drive away, with shopping, boat trips and superb eateries. Rick Stein's restaurants are always worth booking, while Jamie Oliver is only 15 minutes drive to Watergate Bay. For the more adventurous Padstow can also be accessed via a stunning 6 mile stretch of the coastal path, or a shorter 1.5 mile walk across fields on the public footpath. The airport at Newquay is a 15 minute drive. Walking is also wonderful in either direction along the coast path.

A wonderful cottage, very comfortable and so convenient for the lovely beach. Farm shop over the road was really useful too, didn;t need to drive the car anywhere after our arrival. Mixed weather, but some good surfing and sunshine. The garden is a lovely suntrap and place to eat. Excellent shower. Would love to return

We had a lovely 2 week holiday, enjoyed the outdoor garden space and log fire although implements for this could be beneficial. The weather has been very kind to us which has made our stay in Trevone perfect. Highlights were walks photographing on Rocky beach (Trevone Bay), Watergate Bay Hotel at the living space does beautiful as does Bedruthan Hotel, especially on Sunday at lunch and Trevone Cafe is a must for an evening meal.

We love Cornwall and come to this coast every year. We have stayed in Treyarnon, Padstow and Trevone. It is a perfect traditional Cornish Cottage exactly what we expected, even better, the weather has been amazing. We love cornwall and are looking to move here in the next couple of years. The cottage was lovely, perhaps not the most child friendly of the cottages we could have picked, but was in a great location and the beds were very comfy.
Thank you also to the team for the quick response in getting a travel cot to us when we arrived.
