Atmosphere

Rumah Panjang is positioned in a quiet, secluded part of Trevone within easy reach of the beach, farm shop and village pub. It has just been renovated to a very high standard with some lovely features. It's a calm, relaxed base from which to explore Trevone and the nearby coast in either direction. It's also a quick and easy 5 minute drive into the bustling Padstow centre. The house sleeps 10 in 5 bedrooms and has a fantastic open plan living/dining area with bi-fold doors leading on to a large terrace with plenty of seating including a table with benches, outdoor sofa and chairs. This also provides a nice spot from which to look back across the scenic surrounding farmland.

Sleeping

Rumah Panjang features 5 bedrooms – A great feature of Rumah Panjang is the two upstairs bedrooms, one a king the other a double, each having their own en suites. The master king en suite has a Juliet balcony through which you can see the headland and catch a glimpse of the sea. Both have velux windows making them bright and airy and have plenty of storage space. Downstairs there is double, a twin and bunk room, plenty of space for all.

Bathrooms

There are 3 bathrooms at Rumah Panjang with two useful en suites with showers to the king and double on the first floor. The ground floor has the family bathroom with a shower over the bath and loo and then finally there is a loo in the utility. There is also an outdoor shower located next to the utility.

Living and dining room

The open plan living/dining area is undoubtedly the hub of Rumah Panjang; a great sociable space for both adults and children, with an area providing books and games to keep the little ones amused for hours. As well as the large comfy sofa set around the woodburner, there are also comfy chairs well positioned to look out of the bi-fold doors at the terrace and lawn area where children can safely play. This end of the lounge has a glass lantern roof which lets in lots of light, a perfect place for a quiet glass of wine in the evenings! There is a large dining room table which comfortably seats 10.

Kitchen

The modern kitchen is well equipped with everything you should need during your stay. There is a large fridge freezer, electric cooker and hob, dishwasher, microwave and a Bosch Tassimo Coffee Machine. The utility leads off the kitchen where there is a combo washer dryer. There is also a useful small loo.

Facilities

The house is centrally heated. There is also a lovely woodburner in the lounge. There is a Freesat TV, Bluetooth speakers and wireless fibre broadband available throughout the house.

Outside

Step outside the bi-fold onto a large terrace with a good sized table for outside dining and a comfy sofa for relaxing in the sun. The lawned area is perfect for outdoor games with a view over fields, there is even a table tennis table on the patio! Guests have access to the garage where there are children’s toys for the garden and the beach and a BBQ. On the utility side of the house is an outdoor shower and a post beach wash down area.

Nearby

Trevone’s beaches and all its facilities are within easy reach of Rumah Panjang. The headland between Trevone and Padstow is dominant on the skyline to the north. Follow Homer Park Road back to the church to join the main beach road and the beach is minutes away.

The sandy beach is popular with many nooks and crannies to sunbathe, as well as a broad expanse of sand for playing games. The bathing is safe and protected, but also good for surfing, particularly for beginners. Surfboards can be bought or rented at the beach shop.

Right alongside the sandy beach is Newtrain Bay, also known as Rocky Beach - great for exploring, rock pooling, and for swimming in the natural pool. Newtrain allows dogs all year round. The two contrasting beaches provide great fun for children and adults alike! The beaches can be walked to in less about 5 minutes along the lane.

For shopping, Trevone has a good beach and surf shop, as well as a cafe for ice creams, coffee, pizzas and other light meals. The village shop further back from the beach is open 7 days a week, with quality bread and pasties, as well as other staple supplies. The Well Parc provides an opportunity for lunchtime or evening drinks, and is accessible by footpath and lane from all over Trevone. The village has a great sense of community, one of which guests immediately feel a part of.

Padstow is less than 5 minutes by car, with its historic harbour, shops and boutiques, as well as a huge range of restaurants and cafes, led of course by Rick Stein’s Seafood restaurant, bistro, café, and wonderful ‘fish and chip’ shop. Padstow Farm Shop, just outside Padstow itself, is great for local meat and vegetables and can be accessed by the ‘back lane’ out of Trevone – by car or by foot. Seafood can be bought from the atmospheric quay at Padstow.

The coast path is easily accessed – and walking is fantastic in both directions: to Padstow in under an hour, or across to Harlyn and Trevose Head.

Can I just say what a fabulous property Rumah is and we had a wonderful time. We all commented how comfortable the beds were! As is always the case for me, I was very sad to leave Trevone at the end of the holiday and I did have a weep!, it is a place that is very dear in our hearts.

From Visitor Book – The house is fantastic and filled with lovely things. we all especially loved the big wave print on the wall. Everyone enjoyed the trips down to the beach and the food from the cafe. To make it even more fun we celebrated a 4th birthday and lots of family came to stay as well. There are great waves down at the beach and good rocks to climb. Everything in the house is of a great quality and even an outdoor shower for after a day in the sea. It was great weather all week round. Thank you.
