Half terms and holiday periods

At half-terms the change over day will normally move to a Friday/Saturday arrive/depart, with the price being taken from the Thursday before. It will also always be adjusted to best include the holiday periods of Easter, Christmas and New Year.

The Property

  • Atmosphere

The house beautifully designed and furnished, with wonderful light throughout. It has been laid out with the living space on the 1st floor to capitalise on the great views across to Trevose Head. Torridon has a rather special atmosphere and a convenient location.

The property has benefited from an inspired redesign and refit. All fittings and furnishings are of a high quality, and the overall feel of the house is stylish and smart, and yet warm and welcoming. There is central heating throughout, and the finest white cotton sheets on all the beds. Attractive, white painted wooden furniture can be found throughout the house, often furnished with interesting high quality table lights.

  • Sleeping

The main bedroom can be found on the 1st floor and is well furnished, with king-size bed, scatter cushions, bedside tables and interesting ‘pebble’ matching lamps. There is a cream painted sturdy chest of drawers and a large built in wardrobe with wooden shelves and rail. The 2nd floor bathroom is next door.

On the ground floor there are three bedrooms: the 2nd double, a twin room and a large third with twin beds and bunk beds that can be made up on request. The 2nd double bedroom can be found on the ground floor and overlooks the front garden. Its windows are framed with beautiful green curtains. Matching bedside lamps dress the room and a large walk-in wardrobe provides plenty of space for your clothes. There is a large wooden frame mirror on the wall.

Opposite is the 1st twin room looking out over the front garden, furnished with oak single beds, a chest of drawers and hanging cupboard. The 2nd twin room is a large and particularly light room with wide views over the back garden. Here there is a small flat screen TV and 2 huge beanbags. A set of bunk beds can be made up here for a 9th and 10th member of your party if you require.

NB Torridon can sleep 10 on request - making up the bunk beds in the large downstairs bunk room if you wish.

  • Bathrooms

One bathroom is situated on the ground floor, equipped in white, with very powerful shower, loo and basin. There is a huge heated towel rail down the wall and a perfect lit mirror for a good shaving experience.

On the 1st floor, is the other bathroom – almost an ensuite if you are here on your own, but designed to be available to the whole house. It has a good-sized bath with powerful shower and shower screen over, as well as a loo and basin. A huge octagonal mirror provides character and interest.

  • Living

The sitting room area on the 1st floor provides ample comfortable seating for 8, with 2 sofas and 2 elegant armchairs, leather bean-bag and plenty of neutral scatter cushions. The high quality carpet, large wood framed mirror, polished wooden trunk, candles and lamps all compliment the dramatic views across to Trevose Head. The large 1st floor living space also provides a dining area and the open plan kitchen, as well as leading to the main bedroom and upstairs bathroom. The views from throughout the room are great.

The stairs to the 1st floor are covered with a modern deep striped carpet, giving the feeling of comfort and style as one enters the large L-shaped living space upstairs. Attractive wall lights illuminate the stairs at night.

  • Kitchen and dining

Moving into the dining area, high quality laminate floors take the place of carpet. A large dining table dominates, but plenty of space surrounding maintains the sense of calm. Views across the bay to Trevose Head dominate any meal. Stylish painted wooden furniture also compliments the room.

The open plan kitchen completes the open 1st floor space, well equipped with wooden units, block wood work surface, dishwasher, gas range with twin ovens and separate grill, and microwave. The hob includes 5 gas burners and an electric warming area. Tableware and cookware are of the highest standard. The selection of high quality saucepans can't be beaten. The large extractor and grey-green tiled splashback provide a luxurious and stylish feel to the kitchen area. A large larder fridge provides essential storage. The freezer is found downstairs in the utility.

  • Heating and water

Modern gas central heating ensures warmth and plenty of hot water at any time of the year.

  • Facilities

To the back of the house on the ground floor, there is a utility room with sink and cupboard under, washing machine, tumble dryer and space for drying clothes. There is also a standalone freezer here.

Outside

The private and sunny back garden is accessed through the utility room and provides outdoor eating for 8-10 around a large wooden table. It provides a private space to enjoy that really makes the most of Torridon’s special West View location. The front garden provides further flat lawn space and plenty of parking - it may often be seen strewn with surfboards with the beach being so close. The front lawn also can be quite a sun trap, and provide shelter when the wind may make the back garden blowy.

Guests have the benefit of a large double garage for storage and for bad weather games such as table tennis. Large front doors open up the garage, while a rear pedestrian door opens into the back garden. It is very useful cover when occasionally your perfect BBQ may be hampered by a quick shower!

Nearby

Both beaches are minutes away. The main sandy beach is great for all – sunbathing, beach sports, sunbathing, rock-pooling and with secluded spots to have a quiet read or snooze. This beach does not allow dogs during the summer months – but nearby Newtrain beach with its wonderful rocks and pools allows dogs all year round. You can enjoy the natural swimming pool carved into the rocks here also - try and find it, straight out from the house to the sea. Walking is great in both directions – across the easy headland to Harlyn and on to Trevose, or past the cow-hole and smuggler’s passage, across Hawker’s Cove and on to Padstow in under 2 hours.

Trevone itself is very well provided for – with a beach shop and café and a pub. Trevone’s proximity to Padstow for restaurants, shops and occasional supermarket is valuable. And the almost ‘secret’ back road, out past the beach, provides the easiest access to the wonderful Padstow Farm Shop and its fresh vegetables, meat and bread.

 We had a fantastic holiday at Torridon and be accommodation was brilliant for us. The internet seemed to cease working after a couple of days and did not improve after turning the router off and on. It would be beneficial to have more reliable internet but understand that this is sometimes difficult to achieve

We had a great holiday at Torridon.
The house was everything you could possibly want from a seaside house –
The layout of the house was ideal with the living area and self contained grandparent accomodation on the first floor seperated from the bedlam downstairs – and the views of the countryside and coast were magnificent.

The house was excellently kitted out with everything you could need and high quality beds, bed linens and towels.

The simple lawned gardens are ideal for rampaging children and safely tucked away from any traffic.

Any contact we had with Raintree staff showed them to be very pleasant and helpful.
