The Property

• Atmosphere

Thalassa is a traditional family home at Constantine. It is simply furnished, but provides comfortable living and a characterful base from where to enjoy the wonderful area.  There are plenty of books, pictures, ornaments and games for all the family to enjoy.

• Sleeping

There are three bedrooms - one 6ft double bed in the master bedroom; a twin room with new wooden beds; and a full-size and comfortable bunk bed in the 3rd bedroom. There are chest of drawers in each room, and a large wardrobe in the double. There are hooks in the other two rooms. The double room has views to the sea at Constantine.

• Bathrooms

There is one bathroom at Thalassa. There is a large cast iron bath, with shower over and a loo and basin.

• Living and Dining

The L-shaped living room is cosy and comfortable. Whether coming together to watch TV or play games, there is plenty of room for 6.

The dining area is round the corner, furnished with a good-sized dining table and deep blue painted chairs. A sideboard runs along side. At the far end of the dining area, an external door opens to the outside, providing access to a lovely grassed area where one can enjoy the sunset and views across Trevose Head to the sea Harlyn-side.

There is an open fire that can be used to keep the cottage cosy!

• Kitchen

The kitchen is simple but works. There is a new electric cooker and plenty of work surface. There is a fridge with small integrated ice box above, as well as a microwave. A small pantry is where you will find plates and bowls. The back door opens out from here.

• Facilities

Thalassa is heated using storage heaters . A washing machine is provided. An outdoor washing line allow washing to be dried as necessary. The sitting room is equipped with a flat screen TV and DVD. Please note - there is a £1 coin meter at Thalassa operating all electrics other than the storage heaters. There is a telephone at Thalassa - useful as mobile reception is patchy at best - normally necessary to walk out to the road.

Outside

The huge garden at Thalassa is a real feature of the property. It provides both privacy and plenty of room for fun. The store room (located at half-basement level) holds a hoard of furniture, games such as cricket and crocquet, as well as a modern and quite wonderful tandem bicycle (Sept 10 - unfortunately currently broken). A lock is provided, and guests are welcome to use this great bike, as long as they are careful.

Nearby

Thalassa can be found on Sandy Common, a loop off the beach road at Constantine. The beach is 5 minutes walk down the lane and is fantastic, providing entertainment and relaxation for all. The sand dunes are fantastic for exploring, the surf is some of the best in the UK while being protected by lifeguards from May until October, and the beach so huge that you can even find quite and peace in the busiest months. There are rock pools and climbing to be done, as well as exploring further afield to Booby’s Bay at the north end, and across the easy-to-cross headland to Treyarnon in the south.

Trevose Golf Course is also a short walk away – providing golf, tennis, fresh water swimming and a bar and restaurant in the evening. The atmosphere is often conducive for an early evening drink – whether golf is your game or not. Half-way to the golf course, is the well-stocked Constantine Bay Stores. It provides a good and high quality range of food and provisions – allowing you to ‘stay put’ for much of your holiday if you wish. Des’ surf shop next door sells and rents boards and wetsuits – either by the day or for your week.

If you want to travel, there are further fantastic beaches in all directions – and Padstow is only 10 minutes drive away. Or catch the bus, for an even more interesting journey – while avoiding any parking concerns Padstow end!
