Know your tides!

If you’re a real Cornwall afficionado, or just perhaps becoming one, you may find your stay affected by the ‘tides’.

High tide or low tide at lunchtime, and the size of the tides may make quite a difference to your stay!! And many secret places are only accessible when the tides are really low, once a month.

The Tides4Fishing website has all the information you need – put in your dates and see how the tides will mould your week! Thanks to Annalie, Treyarnon Point’s owner for passing on this website – she never books her weeks without consulting the site!

For my annual pilgimmage to Porthcothan over Feb half-term, I have just checked. Rather inconsequential tides for my arrival on Fri Feb 13th – but a week later on Friday 20th, the lowest tide of the month! Ideal. Already looking forward to a trip through the smugglers cave and across to Trescore, as pictured below!
